Your low intake vacuum may be linked to your slightly low compression. If the motor has been unused for any length of time, this may improve within a few running hours, or less. Certainly did on my 750 and 1100. Don't worry about it.

Worst case sceanario, you have a 33 year old motor running a bit down on power. Unless it is guzzling oil or smoking badly it will go on like that for long time.

Yep, I just put the end on the wheel and bump it. Mine is on the top against the head. Your vacuum isn't bad.

I guess I can try to get a box wrench around it to avoid burning myself in the future. The Idle is still a little high.

I took it for a 9 mi spin, runs pretty damn good. It started right up, I have to get used to playing with chokes again. A few issues which are fairly minor. The gas gauge sender looks like it's on the fritz, probably the float. The clutch cable needs replacing the clutch doesn't catch until it's almost completely out and the adjustment is at max. Finally, looks like I have a small oil leak coming from somewhere, I put it on the side stand when i got back and there was a small puddle under the alternator cover when i came back out to the garage. I might also need a battery but that's not a surprise either.

EDIT: I'd just like to add that I like it much better with the Spectre headlight.

Nice, don't be chopping that up. I know they aren't worth a lot, but they are quite rare bikes.

You have three points of adjustment on the clutch: the side casing actuator, the cable adjuster and the fine adjuster on the lever.

Loosen all the cables and adjust it at the cover per your MANUAL.

Not the plan at all. Any mods I do will be reversible.

Yeah, I found the middle one and I'll study the FSM ASAP. Having trouble getting the idle to settle down, I spayed some lube in the throttle cable in case it's sticking.

BTW I figured out that a 15 mm box wrench fits perfectly over the idle adjust.

This bike has one hell of a mean learning curve.

Irregular idle can be carb manifold boots leaking, if the rubbers aren't leaking then sealant on the flanges is
a fix.

You are on the 'shakedown' part now, ironing out little jobs as they occour. this is my shakedown list for my 550.
Always nice to tick the jobs off the list as you work through it, also helps planning for parts.

I'll check them with some carb cleaner. Yeah it's list time, I usually just fire it up on a .txt file.
