You know... for the life of me I can't figure out how I've missed this thread for so long. :woohoo:

Dude.... your bike looks great. Honestly, kicking some serious ass.

We're in the process of moving and we just had a new baby boy who had some complications so I've been so busy that mine isn't half as far as yours is.

Keep up the pace man... you'll be rollin on two in no time with that one.

PHOTOS!
PHOTOS! Me need-um photos! :woohoo:

Yeah, I think you're doing what we all 'want' to do and there are specific hurdles that would pop up for most of us. For me, the rear shock mount would be a concern; not for lack of ideas, but for lack of ability to fabricate. Watching you go thru it gives me direction for what I need to tell my machinist.

...so, once again, your project is all about...me:laugh:

But seriously, I respect you skills and love all the aspects of your construction. (as I've told you before) your 636 stuff has imspired me for my Z1R plans.

You're just doin' great stuff Russ; keep up the good work! ...oh hey,,,got any pics? ;)

Oh gosh!!!
That thing is ugly!!!!
Why did you destroy a perfectly junk KZ100 (that is very slow mind you) and make it junkier?
My 750 honda could beat that any day..... if you push it off of a cliff.....
He he!!!
Just kidding buddy!
Looks great!!!! It makes me flip! :silly:

Solomrus is the man when it comes to insane modification. He knows his way around a welder (unlike me :( )
If someone says it can't be done, Solomrus will sucker punch them in the head, take their girlfriend, and do it anyway to prove 'em wrong!!!! :P

I need to learn from this dude......
This summer man..... I am gonna be at your crib learnin how to do stuff right and make it look cooooooooooooooool.

I hope my Kaw triple street fighter looks HALF as nice as yours does.

Later

Looking good Rus. just a question, why did you mount the shock backwards and put the mount braces going back instead of ahead? I know the shock works the same either way, it just puts the "piggy back" in another spot, but I would think that putting the braces to the back would cause the frame to flex in the same manner(tho less due to the side braces) as if it still had dual shocks as it still putting stress on the same part of the frame(the sub frame). I mounted my shock so its braced against the front and the backbone because I thought it would be stiffer and it also kills 2 birds with one stone as frame brace kits put a piece of tubing accross in the same general spot. just my opinion tho.
oh and I have triple clamp specs, I didnt have the best equipment, but this should be quite close:

edit: new pic further down with actual numbers

heh, was wondering if someone would notice those details. 8^)

the reservoir is towards the front for clearance, to put it simply. it made more sense with the way that i wanted to run the top mount for the shock. less complexity for fabrication.

i want to have some room under the seat to stow a few things for the trip. tools and such. best place is down low. mounting the shock this way keeps as much space down there as possible.

also, in the future, i want to fuel inject this bike, so i wanted some room for a fuel system, wiring, ecu, and things like that. 8^)

i'll be doing a pretty ambitious set of gussets on the frame and the shock mounts after i get everything where i want it as well. that should help keep the loads distributed.

i was originally gonna go with 3 supports from the shock x-member to the cross bar in the back, but i got to thinking about how i want to do my exhaust, and the one on the right would have been right where i wanted the exhaust to go. i'll make a nice sheetmetal panel with a hump in it to go over the exhaust, between the center down-tube and the right side of the frame. then a panel between the two down tubes, then another panel on the left side as well.

that will be my inner fender, and the rear of the under-seat area.

make sense?

sweet, i'll compare those dims to what i have on the 636 parts. get back to you tonight with those.
