Hi, Scirocco.Scirocco wrote: Is it possible to use these Air Corrector Jets on VM22 carbs (Suzuki GS550)?
I don't know if this is a coincidence but I have just been asked this by another member from Germany and while the advertised jets are only for VM24 to VM28 I have agreed to make a special set for his GS550's VM22's .
The reason for only covering 24 to 28 is just because the jets I make for the Z1 Owners Club GB happen to be correct to cover VM24,26 and 28 applications for Z650,Z1,Z1000 and Suzuki GS750 to 1000 so I advertise them as such to serve a wider audience.
The jets for the VM22 are smaller and while I have no intention of going beyond a club hobby service to cover bikes outside my interest I have agreed to help the member as this smaller size will also suit the VM22SS as fitted to some US Z650's.( we only got VM24's on UK bikes).
If anyone needs jets for the VM22SS they should clearly state this as I will only make them individually to order .

Pot filters are very popular on those cafe racer bikes here in Germany.

I have some questions, I have not orginal carbs I have Mikuni VM 24, orginal 650cc, but I have 750cc with 810cc bigbore upgrade.
Pilot: 17,5
Main: 112,5
Needle raised to second highest posistion.
4 to 1 exhaust and pods.
I’m 90% happy with the performance, only a issue in mid range throotle, off idle is quite okay.
When I install the air jets, what should I do with my current setup?

HI, Gordone.
If your bike was stock and you remove the airbox you would simply fit the air jets and increase the main jet a size or two.
If the needles had been raised and the pilot increased to compensate for the pods prior to fitting the air jets then they should be put back to stock and that would be it..
With your 810 i don't know what has jetting been altered and for what reason and i also think the 24mm are on the small side for that capacity and would recommend fitting 26mm from a 900 or 1000 to get the full potential from the big bore..
Having said that, with what you have i would fit the air jets first and see how that goes, the needle probably wants to go back to stock setting also i'm sure the pilots should be 15 and not 17.5 so it looks like that has been done as mentioned previously to compensate for pods and they most likely want reducing too.
Only make one change at a time though so that you know what affect it has.
Regardless of any other changes the air jets will be doing their job and any extra fueling needed will be for the capacity increase.

I will stay with these carbs for now, but then must be the plan to lower the needle to stock posistion together with installation of air jets and then evalute the result.
Agree ?
As I said the bike is going good on crusing and full throotle its just around end of mid range its not going smoth...
If I install the air jets and don`t do anyting as lowering the needle, what happens then, it will only go better?

Your 810 big bore with higher compression puts your engine and possible performance on a level with a KZ900.
You really need 26mm at the least to feed that increase and get the power you are losing at the top.
Small carbs are good for the bottom end response but they will be holding back the upper mid to top end performance .
You will gain much more than "almost nothing" with 26's.
Fit the air jets and put the needle back to stock.
It should sharpen the mid range.

VM26 will be best, when it comes to price and tune in?

Vm's off a 900/1000 shouldn't be far off on jetting and will tune the same as the 24's.gordone wrote: Thank you

It should be easy enough to find a decent set from a KZR member and they are the same spacing as the 650 so you just need a set of 900/1000 boots to fit them.
You could go for some 28's but may be harder to find as they are sought after for the same job going up from 26 on the bigger bikes.

Will VM26 be easier to tune in then 28?
Will it be large performance difference between 26 and 28 for my bike (have not done anything more then bigger pistons and 4-1 to exhaust) ?

Both sizes are virtually the same carb and tune the same.gordone wrote: Thank you,

The 26's should be enough but 28's won'r harm it.
With your state of tune you probably won't see as big a difference from 26 to 28 as you will with 24 to 26 .
I'd go for the 26's as they will be easier to find..

Bike runs fantastic! I installed the jets supplied by Zed and went back to factory except on the main jet which I accounted for 4-1 exhaust. Highly recommend for anybody running pods. After getting the carbs synced and dialing in the a/f ratio I get no popping on decel, a great idle, and great power throughout the entire RPM range.
Thanks ZED!!!!
