My wife commutes 80 miles a day so we bought a 14' Ford Fusion plug-in hybrid back in 2016. It's the best of both worlds and here in NW Washington we have a lot of clean hydropower generation so running a plug-in hybrid works unlike places that don't generate enough clean power to supply demand.

Lithium ion batteries are going to be here for a bit.
Most likely you have one in your pocket(cell phone batteries).

Boeing had fun with one in an APU on the 787 in jan/2013.

If you have to buy them, just make sure you don't buy the cheap ones, buy a very good charger and keep an eye on it.

The "culprit" battery in this article is a GS Yuasa.  I know you can buy batteries for a motorcycle named BS Yuasa

I'm not saying they don't work well but when they fail they fail BIGLY.   Also there's nothing "Green" about them. The amount of destruction, fossil fuels to make the batteries and cheap labor to make them shows the arguments for them are a joke.

www.naturalnews.com/2022-09-21-lithium-m...oys-environment.html

Clearly EV "green-ness" depends on where the local electricity comes from, and mining / extraction of anything is often very dirty.  But I would say that is not a reliable source:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_News
"Natural News is a far-right, anti-vaccination conspiracy theory and fake news website known for promoting alternative medicine, pseudoscience, disinformation, and far-right extremism."

Maybe try these?

Drag racings is probably one of the most obvious places where electric motors can work really well.  All of the torque is available at zero speed.

I don't see any super reliable numbers, but it looks like the Tesla wheel motor weighs about 100lbs and puts out something like 400 hp and 400 ft-lb of torque?  Sounds like a good drag motor.

I saw a video once where a Tesla beat a dodge Challenger Hellcat in a drag race but what they didn't tell you was the Tesla made about 3 passes and then didn't have enough in the batteries to make it home.
