Looking good! Any tips on laying out the stripes? I'm restoring a red Z1B, going to paint it myself.

i saw a utube video on that technique, and man that looks like it would be a bitch to realign the matt for the second color. good job. :)

I used the measurements you gave we took small peices of quarter inch tape at those locations
Then laid it out

took a piece ran down the center measured it at leat 50 times and got a different measurement everytime lol remembering my tape was 1/4 inch so I had to make it 1/2 inch wider for center (big) stripe
after I get it done I am going to take allot of photos with measurements so it will be easier next time

if you use tape for the white it would be easier for sure But the guy I'm doing this for (Les)
doesnt cut corners so I'm trying to pull off an all paint custom so to speak. (If it comes out still a long way to go)

I keep telling myself "I can always redo it" lol

The biggest bitch is not seeing how much paint your laying down but yeah trying to drop it and move it a half square isnt easy it will take several times to master it for sure

Your really talented for someone working on their skill set nice job. How hard do you think it would be to do the whole tank in the checkered paternal you did?

Thanks. Yeah, the original tanks have white tape and painted gold stripe. I'll do the same.

Looks great! Love the Z-1 style with a modern flair. Can't wait for the clear! :woohoo:

I was just thinking....not sure if it would look good or not, but if you wanted to, you could have put chrome stripes anywhere on the tank, right? I was thinking a thin, chrome pinstrip around the other stripes might look neat.

Wow do those "badges" look real. Cool. B)

One more thing you forgot to do Aaron! You need to autograph this on the tail and send a wad of business cards with it!
