Custom Z1 Paint Scheme Sort Of

I kw this seems like a n of work for the chrome around the emblem
but the cool factor out weighs the work lol my only hope is that it's not
all in vane. So any way I over killed the chrome for 2 reasons one was to see how
hard it would be to do a whole tank and to see how it reacts after clearing

Because masking the area to be chromed makes the process hold water and
chemicals that may bleed into the paint it was neccessary to Chrome the area
before laying paint.

next will be to scuff up the area mask my chrome and then sand the tank again
and apply the base color


will get a chace tomorrow to get it resanded and masked
still trying to decide whether to fill the holes in the side covers
Personally I think I should staying with the painted on emlems

So is the tank actually chrome plated? Is it the triple plating process? Copper...nickel...chrome?

I don't think I've ever seen a paint job with chrome as one of the base coats....the lettering should look killer.

It's actually a mirroring process done with silver nitrate an activator and distilled water
you have to clear your part degrease it from all contaminents then apply a wetting agent that breaks the surface tention so the water doesnt bead then spray it with a tinning agent then apply the siver nitrate and reducer from a special dual chamber sprayer blow dry it and then clear it with a special violet tinted clear (clear turns silver yellow) to get the chrome effect.

eventually I will do an entire bike in it and tint it green lol just doing the chrome part of the emblems on this one so far. really want to go crazy with it and do the stripes but this one isnt for me. so im laying back a little lol

the guy that taught me to do it owns a chrome shop and you cant tell the difference unless you hold it and feel it has been clear coated it is getting easier to do each time I do it but just like painting you can not take short custs and its 90% prep work

never fails one side went great now back to rechroming the other side
probablly over kill for the effect but the goal is to not have any stickers
or emblems other than paint





the only chrome will be ubder the masking and hopefully will
be really cool when the rest is done

until today i never get dressed been livin in my pj's lol

right side rechromed and cleared let her stand tonight then mask off emblem
tomorrow when I get home work has called me in for a gruelling few weeks
doesnt leave me much time to create

it almost stings to scuff this up to apply the mask
