The infamous Dwarf 1157....

Not sure from the picture, but if the "dwarf base" is compatible with a standard 1157, the Luxeons just MIGHT fit into it. You can check their fabrication drawing for total height and see if you think it will fit. They would definitely brighten that sucker up. I think the heat would be OK, the LED's dissipate a lot less total heat than the standard and the Luxeons are monted to a heatsink that conducts the heat back to the base.

I also think that from poor judgment comes learning, and from learning comes experience, and from experience comes wisdom.

So if wise men say less, it follows logically that older mouthy obnoxious fellows must show good judgment.

Thank you for the most excellent comparison on lamps. Very convincing experiments. I hear those LED lamps make great door stoppers.

Klasmo Rear Tail light:

In reviewing the measurement of the Klasmo tail light width @ 200mm (7.874") and in comparing this to my KZ900 tail piece (6" wide at the most) this seems a weird fit.

For me, I think integrated LED is the way to go. Nice clean look with no need for side blinkers.

That's what I've got as well, like Mark's above.
Fits the 650 tail nicely.
I'm using ZX turn signals for better visability.

I happened to come across an auto forum for hot rods discussing aftermarket taillights and brightness of bulbs. For those of you that have aftermarket taillights that will accept the standard 1157, Sylvania makes a 2357 LL(longlife) that has the standard 1157 running light filament but the brake(turn)filament is much brighter. I bought a set from Fleet Farm ($2.50 pr.)and the brake(turn) is quite a bit brighter. As a side note, my shakedown run a couple of weeks ago a filament did break probably do to vibration so I bought another set but this time GB oxgarded(dielectric grease) them (and carry a spare on board) and have had no problem since.(I also oxgarded all the bulbs of the tailights of my 03 Jetta a few years ago because of "issues" and haven't had to touch those bulbs since!)

I have twin cat eye tailights and made some reflectors from .040" aluminum for behind the bulbs to help direct the bulb light to shine "out" instead of getting lost in the housing. It did help. I can't help it sometimes I tinker too much, but I wanted brighter light out back, and I personally wouldn't touch those aftermarket cat eye turn signals that you can barely see. If only a co. would come up w/ some QUALITY mini turns for a few bucks more they'd be jumped on!
