Aftermarket tail lights
06 Mar 2007 10:09
I'm toying with the idea of eliminating my rear fender and ran across these tail lights:

Anybody here have any one of them installed on their bike, and maybe post a pic?
I was leaning towards either the shotgun or twin cat eye models.

Those twin shotgun lights are pretty sweet!
At $25 too, its a good deal. Would they be able to run as integrated tail lights?

I have the Twin Ness (or at least one similar) on my 650. I initially bought the same one Indy has (mine is from Emgo), then found the other taillight and modified the backplate to fit it. Also incorporated a set of cheap mini blinkers for a scooter, think they were like $10 for a set.
Just note that these cheap aftermarket tail lights will be nowhere near as bright as the stock ligts are. Dont know if lights are required during daytime where you live, they are over here (Denmark) and to be honest the aftermarket lights don´t quite cut it - the reflector is "chromed" plastic and the "glass" doesn´t have the deep red color that the stock light has. You can get aftermarket lights that are as bright as the stock light, but not for $25-30.

One option is to get a 'cheap' aftermarket light, then LED bulbs.
You can get some LED bulbs that act as 'dual filament' bulbs do..that'd make 'em plenty bright. I grabbed a set of them from Wally-world to put in my stock tail light.

haven't put them in yet, but they ran me $11 (CDN) each.
I'm going to try 'em out once I get my bike back together.. still working on 'er
They're red LEDs, so hopefully they shine as bright through the red tail light lens

I have the red Tri Light from them - super bright, good quality and it's e marked. Mine doesn't have a license light, but a white led hanging above the plate took care of that.

Fossil, what does "e marked" mean?
OnkelB, that is one sweet looking 650! What kind of seat is that?
I think I'll go with the shotgun light and some LED bulbs.
