Whoa! Thread hijack alert!
;)
They are stock Harley Sportster mufflers, mounted on standard KZ400 headers, with emgo adaptors (to change from 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inch).

Well I hooked up my lights and a) one of the bulbs was a milky colour and didnt work. Dead from the box :/ b) the bulbs were these silly little tiny things that I couldn't find anywhere!

Fortunately, normal tail/brake bulbs that are larger still fit in my assembly so overall, im not too bothered. Does the job for me and thats all I need :)

just had to comment on the pipes!
I actually put some of the plastic mini cat eye turn signals with the iridium lenses on the front of my 1979 kz400. I assumed they would come with amber bulbs. WRONG! I like the way they look, but the mini bulbs are impossible to get out to change to an amber bulb.

I only bought one pair to see how I like them. I was originally going to mount them on the back, but the threaded shaft is too short to fit through the rubber bushing that holds the stock turn signals.

I found this site that I think has a better selection than flyncycle.com
www.chromeandleatherplus.com/store/home.php?cat=317
they have aluminum parts rather than plastic, although some are obviously harley targeted.

AND
I was planning on ordering THIS tail-light with next weeks paycheck.

Wow, that is nice.

But it looks like it's made specifically to mount on the Bonnie's rear fender. Doesn't look like I could use it. Looks like the lamp housing is plastic too, just the mount is aluminum. Still, it's very reasonably priced...

Wow these lights on Fly N' Cycle are just what I've been looking for. Has anybody tried the Twin Ness Universal Rear light? Looks like it has the best of both worlds with standard bulbs but a low profile...which is what I was going for. Should I go for it?

Weeeeell that didn't work out as well as I hoped. I bought the Twin Ness taillight from flyncycle and I tried mounting the light underneath the frame. Bad news bears. As soon as I hit the street today (second day out this season by the way!) I hit a massive pot hole, bottomed out, and threw that beautiful -ness all over 15th street. Not a pretty sight and kind of a waste of money IMO. I went with a -94 zx6 ninja light today and hopefully (knock on wood) this is the last iteration I'll make on my taillight. I think I'm going to try making my own tail out of sheetmetal and put this zx6 taillight in line with the frame, not below it. Otherwise it's back to stock Big Bertha...Anyway, I was glad to be back on the bike while it lasted!

I got the same single cateye lights (bought singly because I didn't know they made the double) that allow for the standard 1157 (came w/ mini 1157). I mounted them both to one licence plate holder and plan to use them as turn signals also w/ a trailer wiring adapter. I turned the outsides of the two lights down to "conform" to my 78 kz1000A's duckbill instead of being straight across. Two odd things tho', I tested regular 1157's against the mini 1157's and the regular 1157's were no brighter than the minis. Also the lights came w/ a red, yellow and black wire, turns out the yellow is the ground??!!!

Does anyone have the spec sheet on double element auto bulbs that shows the wattage of each? 1157, 2057 etc.

One option is to get a 'cheap' aftermarket light, then LED bulbs.

You can get some LED bulbs that act as 'dual filament' bulbs do..that'd make 'em plenty bright. I grabbed a set of them from Wally-world to put in my stock tail light.

Do you happen to remember what they ended up costing you?
Happy with their performance?

The only drop in LED's that are actually brighter than a stock 1156 or 1157 incandescent buld are these 3W Luxeons:

www.superbrightleds.com/specs/115x-xLX3.htm

Looks like they are $24 now, I got mine back when they were $20. They are REALLY bright. I tried some of the cheaper LED tail lights and they were too dim to trust as brake lights.
