Re: USD Forks
27 Jan 2025 12:28As part of the last "update" Bill cleared out a lot of the old "for sale" ads that hadn't had any activity for a while so you may need to re-post if still relevantI’ve got some updates on my project, and was going to post them in the thread I had in the for sale section, but I can’t find that thread anywhere. Does anyone know why it’s not showing up anymore?

I suppose there’s not a ton to update, but I did want to share that I successfully rebuilt my forks with extensions on the damper rods.

nice work so far Stereo.
Those forks look very similar to some i am looking at locally. 2008 z750 kwacka.
Did you get this bike in USA?
Some gold anodized ones for sale locally. not as much choice around here. i am going to measure them up soon.
I am hoping they are similar to 636 ,etc and an 'easy' swap i.e. bearings or pin swap. Looking forward to many nights of measuring and shimming.

I’m not an expert, but after a quick search it looks like the Z750 forks you are looking at are the same forks I have. What bike are you trying to put them on?

That is what i was looking at, they seem identical. I am a bit iffy on the radial calipers. Like yours mine will come sans calipers . i will have to check a few out. Want to keep my spoked hub or maybe a later model (maybe BMW/Royal enfield) spoked hub which would have a bigger diameter discs available.
For my Z1R rebuild / resto mod as per avatar.

Curious what you mean by “iffy” on the radial calipers. As in, you don’t know which ones you want to use, or do you not like radial calipers in general? obviously the forks will have to determine which calipers you use in terms of the mounting. In my case I lucked out, because I took a gamble on the gold Nissin calipers just cause I thought they look cool, and it turned out they were a perfect fit.

Most radial calipers use the same bolt spacing.
I used R1 calipers on my donor 05 ZX10R forks.
The only mod i did was to remove 5mm off their "feet" so they fitted the smaller diameter 310mm 05 ZX10 brake disc.
The later models use a larger 320mm disc so it would have been a direct swap if i'd used those.
