Kaw doesnt produce 43020-1027 any longer, K&L doesn't have a rebuild kit for this model (they list one but the plunger is incorrect). I've had 3 local shops all verify that Kaw no longer makes it, The gentleman from Z1 has been most helpful also in attempting to find a solution, and Kaw's site lists it as "Discontinued".

A replacement aftermarket master cylinder looks to be the easiest path to take, and the most cost effective as the only local shop that parts out old bikes wants $150 for a used MC with no gurantee its not the same shape mine is.

The only issue i have now is figuring out which MC to order.

Yes that is what NLA means. Here look at this, www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=4347
It is for the single caliper 440, and is 1?2" dia. The piston length maybe different, or something. But it would have the seals, probably a spring you can use etc.
Here is an older thread on the elusive part, kzrider.com/forum/5-chassis/345029-maste...ild-kit-for-81-kz550

spring is 1/4" too short, piston seals are in the wrong spots, middle seal is twice as long, the gentleman from Z1 took pics and measurements and we compared that part to the 1027 p/n. They will not interchange.

Ok, well looks as though you've been there done that already.
I was only trying, so hopefully the next guy will find this and see it won't work. The last fellow never said.
Just the cups/ seals are available through Dorman and Bendix for the majority of brake cylinders. Maybe trying that route? Stores used to carry just the cups in different DIA's years ago, but now its just Chinese cylinders everywhere. Some old school brake shop in your area may be able to help?

please don't take my comments as "samrt a**" ... I truely appreciate the help from everyone on this. I had seen that when i searched and nothing was ever clarified, as you stated. The seals on my piston are in decent shape, but they have become hard. The cup that goes on teh end has a few holes in it. Brakes are NOT something i was to "rig" as if they fail i could potentially injure myself as well as others.

That's OK guy, I can see you're a bit frustrated not being able to get the part you need. I get the same way, I get pissed at these youngsters at the parts places because of lack of knowledge.
But it looks like you have been getting a lot of help from Z1. They go alot farther than most companies to help find parts, lots of "Leg Work".
Maybe like I said an older shop that has Knowledge may have the seals/ cups. 1/2" bore looks pretty common on Clutch Master Cylinders etc. Wilwood makes a single circuit cylinder with that bore etc.

I can confirm the dual disk master and the single disk master have different internals and are not interchangeable.

I'm in the same boat regarding rear MC on the gpz. Everything listed is only for 82-83, but I need 81. When the time comes, I'm just going to get new aftermarket ones (front and rear), but as you said, it's going to be some trial and error which can add up $$$.

I was really trying to avoid the "trial and error" method because as you said, it get's expensive. This is why all the newb questions.

I wonder if anyone has tried the universal Magura from Dennis Kirk. It seems reasonably priced, but I wonder how long rebuild kits would be available for that.

13mm diameter, But lever pivot and press-point location also play a role in the overall leverage ratio.

But it looks like you have to get the switch separately. I think it's the standard banjo threads, so I'm not sure why they say to get that specific banjo bolt. I run both lines off the master (for dual disks), so I'm sure I can't use the banjo they suggest.
