OK so I have looked at the wiring diagram for an A2 (no diagram for a B2 in the manuals on the forum that I could find) the attached should explain where everything goes however, I have been here before with Andy62 where the wiring colours coming out of the aftermarket switches don't match (from what I can see in the pictures you are in the same position, some match, some don't) If this is the case open the switches and fold them back so you can clearly see which wires go where and take pictures. I will be able to work out from that what colours need to go where

It sounds as if the harness is made for a different model or year.  I'm pretty sure you can get a harrness with all pins, like yours, but you can also get one that is all plugs.

Another way to figure things out is to check what's working and what isn't.  If the bike starts and some things still aren't right then by elimination that's what the strange wires are for.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Why would i get one with all plugs? It is not a Z1 which are pretty much plug and play ( I have built several Z1's and still own one) The original post clearly stated I have a 1978 KZ1000 harness. It appears it is a non ltd or B harness.. I can make this harness work though.

From what I can see the harness doesn't seem to be much of an issue, it's more the wire colours  from the aftermarket switches

I didn't mean to piss you off.  Just wanted to point out there are different looms for that series of bikes.

I have a 1980 KZ1000 LTD with all plugs except the front signals.

No offense taken... I didnt mean for it to come across that way, I just didnt understand why these controls/harness are different. I did have a conversation with a guy today that said back in the day the motorcycle techs at Kawasaki dealerships used these extra wires in the harness and headlight for diagnostic purposes. Anyway if I can get out to my shop instead of work for the next two days I might actually get some of this stuff figured out. I still have to install the Dyna 2000 and go from there.

I can't remember if the original positive battery cable had a single or double connector in addition to the battery end and solonoid end... as I tossed it. I purchased a single. I'm still using the original fuse box. Are there any 1978 kz1000 ltd that someone can check for me? Thanks.

The below thread may be useful as the loom colours look the same as Andy's 650 and I think his switches are similar to yours

I have a1978B2 with original harness intact. I added some relays to isolate brake light issues and it has Dyna S ignition and the Wired George relay. I used all factory colored wires to add them in so diagnoses is simply follow original colors. What would you like to compare?
