Sometimes when a bike sits things get gummed up. After running for a while, it starts to free up again. Don't get discouraged.

Well thank you I am going to just take my time and get the bike going. I think this bike is a good base to start from and plan on keeping it simple just clean it up really good and a 4 into one with pods. Nothing over the top.

You contradicted yourself. You can keep it simple OR you can install pods on those CV carbs, but you can't have it both ways. ;) Ed

Oh are pods not a good idea with the carbs I thought I was keeping it simple but if I'm creating a monster project no pods.

How about a 4 into 1 can I get away with putting just that on with stock air cleaner?

So the starter clutch is gone I have the engine out just need to take it over to machanic/friend to get the 30mm nut off the right side and the 27mm on the left. Then I'll know how bad it is.?

That's a bummer.
Mine has been making noises for a few years and I know it will go eventually. Just not sure what I will do yet. I'll be interested to see how it works out for you.
Good luck

There's several threads where myself and other members have detailed what to do. Gomto the "home" page, look to the right, find the search box, type "starter clutch" and hit the mag glass icon. I'll also link you to a couple recent good ones. Do you already have the replacement clutch? Most folks do a new starter clutch and gear, parts can be purchase online from cheapcycleparts.comfor around $100 shipped. Make sure to get new gaskets for oil pan and clutch cover, and a new clutch nut...

I need to get the starter clutch out to see what is going on and how or what parts to buy. This is the first bike engine I've taken apart so I have never heard of a clutch nut? So when I find out what that is I,ll buy a new one
