That's not how you test a fuse. Putting one of the meter's leads to one end of the fuse and the other lead to the other end of the fuse will always show 0 volts. While you have the leads in that position if you change the meter to read ohms you should see that you have continuity - that will confirm that the fuse itself is good. If you want to see if you have power at that fuse you need to switch the meter to DC Volts and put one lead on either end of the fuse and the other lead to ground. That should show 12 volts (maybe more or less depending on battery condition) on the meter. Ed

Thanks Ed! Like I've said I'm very new to this so all of these duh moments are helpful! What setting on the ohms should I set my meter too? I had it set to 2k and its reading about .03 then goes to 0.00?

Be very careful in testing fuses in the clips when the meter is set on ohms, as you should never apply voltage to a meter when in ohms, as it can destroy the test equipment. When the meter is set on ohms, it's using an internal battery for readings. When you change it to voltage, now it will read A.C. or D.C. voltage. If unsure of the voltage to be read, go to the highest settings, and lower the settings to where voltages are in the middle scale(on an Analog meter).

When I ohm check fuses, I go to the lowest ohm setting with the fuse removed from the clip(s) to prevent meter damage. Most meters have a times 2 setting, but some Japanese meters have a times 1 setting.

With the meter as shown in the first photo, DCV 20 scale, Put the Black lead to the battery Negative and use the Red lead for testing. Check for Battery voltage on the Main Fuse, Both Ends. From there the wires will go up to the Ignition Switch, so Key must be turned to ON to get power at any other fuse. Start there, Main Fuse Power both sides.

Thanks motorhead! I put the black to the battery negative and tested both sides of the main fuse. It showed around 12.56+ for each side. but no voltage in either of the other fuses.

Ok, you will see at the bottom of the diagram, it will show in a Box the Ignition Switch contacts. It shows which wires make contact with the Key Turned to ON. So basically, your wiring comes from the battery positive, to the main fuse then up to the Ignition switch, then back to the fuse panel. So since you have power entering and exiting the Main Fuse, next is the Connector for the Ignition Switch. You need to access it. I believe you'll find it on the frame, near the front of the fuel tank. best to remove the fuel tank to see it.

are you talking about one of the connections in the wiring harness?
