$645 fully assembled as listed above, $468 in DIY kit form.

I'm proficient with a soldering iron, so I build the kits. MS1 and MS2 so far.

Where from? I think I'll be ok with micro at the minute. If I ever go to the mega I'd be safer paying the extra for it to be built, you've 'known' me a while Steve, I'd be more proficient at making myself sterile with a soldering iron!!

Now that's a disturbing mental picture!!

I buy from diyautotune here in the US, I don't remember the name of the UK distributor, but I remember he was/is a big contributor to MegaSquirt.

Phil Ringwood www.extraefi.co.uk/

I've dropped him mail about a gauge he can suggest for A/F & Boost, i'll post up if he suggests anything

Guys, sorry to resurrect this, its 2.30am here & i cant read through the thread again.

What did you guys use for cyl head temp measurement? Or what sensor? My GPz Turbo head has a M10x1 hole for the original sensor (which cant be used) & the recommended GM sensor is WAY too big for the hole (16.5 ish mm wide)

I've found this, but i don't know how reliable it'll be!

Might try the coolant sensor from like an 01 dodge ram, they use a smaller thread on them dunno the size tho

I believe these are the thread you are looking for. But I do not know if they are what you need for the resistance values. They are pretty common through the Bosch Fuel injection Air Cooled VW and Porsche. www.texasaircooled.com/catalog/Type-4-Cy...perature-Sensor.html
Here is a link to the resistance at different temps. www.ratwell.com/technical/TempSensorII.html

Why can't you use the stock sensor? I believe you can change the values MS expects in Mega Tune and Tuner Studio tuning software. I believe it's discussed in the Mega Manual.

Had to refresh my memory :

These sensors were been used on practically all GM cars in the 1980s and are easy to find - the same is true for the correct connectors. However, other sensors can be used if the EasyTherm software is used to recalibrate your MegaSquirt® EFI controller.

Easy Therm

If you are using non-standard coolant and/or air temp sensors with a MS-I™ controller, you must create “.inc” files that are essentially look-up tables for your MegaSquirt® EFI controller to relate resistance to temperature (For MS-II™ you can change the curves directly in TunerStudio, with no other steps necessary). These files must then be compiled into one .s19 file, and then down loaded to the MegaSquirt® controller. EasyTherm makes it very easy to use “non-standard” temperature sensors with the MegaSquirt® controller. It does three things that otherwise can be a bit of a pain:

Mega Manual

Note that you do not need EasyTherm with MS-II, you can calibrate the thermistor tables directly in TunerStudioMS (under 'Tools') without reloading code.

I think the MicroSquirt is basically a MS II.

Thanks Guys.

Motorhead, thanks for looking that link up, what i need is a 2 wire sensor, apparently more accurate, i've kinda found one but i'll use the stock sensor as Steve says, might as well give it a go & i have the resistance values.

Steve, yes the uS is more or less an MS2, a few less functions. I'll get this one running & then use it on my next bike, i'll maybe MS3 the turbo bike at that time. It says in the Manual or uS/MS2 doccumentation to use the 2 wire sensor but through discussion the original one might be ok as bike wire runs are so short (well thats what i was told). A guy on the turbo forum has just got his bike started on MS2 using the original sensor so that gives me some hope.

Wouldn't a sensor with a thermo pellet, be for immersing in liquid? The water temp sensors are two wire and a thermo pellet, when there is no liquid they go nuts.
Got a sensor in mind, can you post a link?

The MegaSquirt and most other EFI computers uses two wire sensors to reduce the electrical noise due to grounding. Ground wire goes to computer ground.
