Basically you'll be starting from scratch. It should be simpler with the slide carbs ether way.

Update 4/14/16
These came in the mail today. :)
Had the float bowls off, and they look pretty clean inside.

Took the top off to check out the mechanical apparatus. Must adjust somehow when synchronizing...

Do all the screws look like that. The nut is off center.

Only had that one cover off, so I don't know. It looks like a cam type adjustment for something, perhaps for side to side adjustment of the slide in the carb body

Or is that the adjuster to raise and lower the slide?

That is how you sync the carbs, it raises or lowers the slide.

My only concern with the air box is that it will restrict the air flow. Keep in mind these are racing carbs, not designed for the street. They were designed for velocity stacks or pods. That doesn't mean the air box won't work. Keep us posted.

The "nut" is offset to allow synchronizing. The screw locks it down.

A little help here...
I need a somewhat clear understanding how to go about the synch process before putting the carbs on the bike. I've synchronized the BS34'z numerous times, so I'm familiar with the basic process and end-goal.

I intend to set the float levels (per clear tube method), with the carbs mounted on a leveled bracket fastened to my workbench.
What is the ideal measurement (below the carb body) to shoot for with these carbs?

Should I start with the 135 main jets (already installed), or go a step or two smaller?

Are the fingers supposed to be angled as shown in the pic below?

Those are nice was a smarter move than the 33s I think ..... I have no idea what would be best but since you have the K and N's and these are more of a racing carb I'd start there.... I've always been a pod lover and agree on then giving very little perf gain (and sometimes head aches) but since you'll probably have to work on the jetting a little anyway it sure would be easier that way and I feel look better.......... Maybe google Mikuni tuning manual with the model number of the carbs for more info .......Steve put up a really nice one a while back but can't seem to find it right now.

Send me a PM with you email address and I will send you information on how to tune and sync these carbs.

Hey Daveo, I assume you bought rs 34s, didn't see the size listed anywhere in the thread. I've been running that size on my 810 engine for several yrs now with pods and am in the process of getting an airbox together, simply because I don't seem to get the same amount of air to the center carbs as to the outside carbs, and then there is the rainy weather issue. Just wanted to let you know you aren't alone here, and it may be an adventure, but I think it'll be worth it in the end.
