Don't plug it either run a tube on it down by the swing arm or I hooked a K and N breather filter I picked up off Ebay to it...... do you have a header? You will need to jet up a little maybe 17.5 pilot jets and 2-3 steps up on the mains 110s maybe...... I ran 112.5 with the stock motor pods and header and have 117.5s now...... also I've read to check to be sure the pods are not blocking off the air jet at the carb I think its emgo's or some other cheap ones that may.

Z1 Enterprises is a good place also along with jetsrus and the several others suggested....... search ebay for K and N crankcase filter I forgot just what I picked up right now..... (go by the hose size needed (90 degree hose that's attached to the air box) for the opening size coming off the motor and maybe see if you can get a couple other suggestions on this.

Why? Are you deliberately trying to reduce the performance? Ed

Dear moderators,
I think it might be very helpful if someone could compile the carb tuning solutions for each model discussed on this site over the lst five or ten decades and compile the results in a single document per model, and save them in the file base, so when newbies want to reflog this very dead horse, we could point them to condensed wisdom.

I think it would be nice to do the same with MFolk's posting on electrical systems.

I'm amazed that pod questions still are asked considering the vast amount of information about pods that is available through KZR's great search engine. As far as running pods on the 1977 KZ650, I simply don't get it. Considering that the 1977 KZ650 broke all 750cc speed and endurance records at Daytona, and the fact that those record-breaking bikes used the airbox rather than pods, installing pods on the KZ650 seems like an obvious mistake. I did it for performance until I found out it cost me at speed. Virtually no stop and go out here. The air box just works better. Still it was hard to go back. My duel pods looked cool and fast.

Is there a Dynojet jet kit available for your carburetors? If so, I would start there. Some of the Dynojet kits include needles with a different profile that will aid in the tuning of pod filters. If you have cheap pod filters, throw them away and get K&N pods or UNI filters. A wideband O2 sensor and gauge will be your best friend for tuning if you really want to get it dialed in perfect.

Can result from over-filled crankcase.
