I assume you are referring to the hydraulic lock?, I don't know but that's the only reason that relief valve is there, if for some reason the oil pressure gallery gets blocked the oil has no-where to go which would cause he oil pump to lock and bits flying everywhere, unless the relief valve opens.

Yep thats the culprit, I assume the oil level on your Z is full? :pinch:

Brilliant, you'll save your engine from a heart attack, usually I found the out crankshaft bearing (the removable one) was the first to sufferNic wrote: Gate fitted, no more oil light, works well.
