10.25/1. Good thing you discovered it. Different pistons will make terrible vibration and possible grenade. I know it's expensive but the billet pistons are lighter and stronger. Hold off until you know if you have to go oversize or not. Once done it will run like a scalded cat. :woohoo:

most of wiseco piston's are forged not billet.they can make them out of billet for custom applications.forged pistons are the strongest piston you can make .

Ok, so some good news at last, my cylinders are round!
They are within spec to still use a 72mm piston.

I placed another order with z1 ent. For my piston set and timing chain rollers. I was hoping to get more done on my 2 days off this week but it wasn't in the cards.
I went with the forged 10.25:1 pistons and I'm looking forward to getting this thing back together next week.

While I'm waiting on parts I'm going thru the brakes and removing the brake dust jello from inside the calipers, lubimg the slide pins etc, etc.
Then I'll move on to installing the dyna s pickups.
Spent more cash than I wanted, but that's nearly always the case.

Better change the lines while you are at it. The sludge inside will contaminate the clean fluid. If there is an Earl's store near you can make your own lines for cheap. Good stuff.

Ok, some progress.
Pistons are on the rods, evil wiseco pin clips installed
Cylinder block on, head on, getting ready to tackle the the buckets, shims and cams.

A microscope was needed to see the damn timing mark on the exhaust cam, that's a sick joke papa Kaw!

Anyway, it's starting to look like a bike again. Can't wait to fire it up and see what mistakes I've made :silly:

:woohoo: today was a good day.
At about 10am this morning I was holding my new pistons in my hands.
At 11:56pm the bike was alive again!

Fired right up, let it run at about 2k rpm and come up to temp. Ran it for about 5 minutes on the stand with a fan blowing on it, shut it down,

Going to let it sit all night and retorque in the morning.

I'd like to thank this forum, Z1 enterprizes and my visa card.

350 of 500 break in miles on the clock, bike runs great. Did my first round of rejetting and needle adjustment, waiting on a few more miles to really hammer it and dial it in.
I used the wiseco one piece head gasket and cut it to make a 2 piece and used the stock formed oring, no epoxy, no rtv, no leaks (yet). The base gasket also seems to be leak free for now.

I did one rip up to about 7k rpm in 2nd and 3rd, The clutch let go right at 6k rpm, started slipping.

This is my 4th Kawasaki, and I've put clutch springs in ALL of them.
