Please forget the oil idea.......... our problem is more than that! Mine slipped for the first time and for 7 or 8 times in a row with Mobil 4T synthetic and stopped for 15 starts in a row when I switched to 10/40 Valvoline motorcycle oil BUT on the first cooler day 60s the extra load got it slipping again so mine is right on the edge and was only temporary.

12046-1032 and 13193-1062 ............ many show it available till your ready to order....... In June when I found out I had the problem I was told they were available and could a got one on ebay new but like a dummy I waited till late fall when things slow down for me and lost out.

Also I agree SWest ........ have you ever seen the springs ....... they actually look just like the springs out of a ball point pen....not second guessing the engineer's at Kawasaki but dang.

Yes they are very flimsy. They need to be so they won't wear out the other parts. All they do is move the rollers to the point they will jam. You might want to look at the ramps to see of there is any deformation that would keep them from moving far enough to work.

Did they say that both 12046-1032 and 13193-1062 were no longer available?

I called www.partzilla.com (877.473.4595). They claim 13193-1062 is still available from Kawasaki but say 12046-1032 is not. It might be worth checking on that first one with them to ask them to order it. The second part can be found in new old stock at other parts houses, such as www.z-power.co.uk , even though Kawasaki no longer supplies it. Ed

It will only be a matter of time till a third party starts making replacements for the sprocket. Kawasaki used it until 1993 on the zephyrs. so many bikes out there have this problem or will have this problem i imagine demand will be get to a point where someone with a cnc will start cranking em out.

Partzilla told me no I think in Oct and when I ordered the rollers and other parts in Jan I didn't re ask since they were still showing oppsolete and not available still on their sight. I owe you thanks again.

I've read here that modern non bike specific oils can cause problems here, although that idea was disputed earlier - i'm really not sure...just an idea, i have this problem myself.

The oil thread smilie :) as it is a contoversial subject and tends to get loads of opinions.

Oil is quite sticky, so I think several hundred miles might be needed to remove any anti slip coating 'contaminant', before comparing the problem with different oils.
