I'm sure there are many different approaches to making power with a turbo. My bike has not been dyno'd, so I can't say if is more or less powerful - but it is very rideable - both on and off boost - and that was the goal. I know there's different paths to make more HP - but with the bike picking the front wheel up in 3rd gear with just 5-6lb of boost, I'm not sure I would want that much more power...

I have no doubts YOUR bike works very good Jeff. If it delivers what you expected of it then mission accomplished.

Yeah thats old school thinking on the turbo head porting, but heres a news flash it actually works really good.
I think the picture of Jeffs friends bike proves that point with what its capable of.
For starters, that's a J head with a 32mm exhaust
If I handed you a KZ head with a set of 38mm intakes and 31mm exhausts and said here, set this up for 400" lift cams & make the intake ports deliver at .350" lift for a 1200 cc motor, you wouldn't know the first thing to do with it or even begin to know what to look out for. So let's cut the crap Jack. You're a high performance reader of the internet and that's pretty much where the green flag drops and the bullshit stops.... Reading and relaying information is one thing, actually getting your hands in there and making it happen is way our of your league. Hell, just being straight with people is beyond your capability.
I sincerely apologize for sort of hijacking this thread but it appears someone lifted the stone up and the snake crawled out again.

ATP used rayjay B series on honda 's and f series on z's ...... you can use a rayjay b-25 and have quick spool(less turbo lag)times......on a Z1/900 with a limit of around 17 psi boost....... I've used both . but now newer smaller turbos are available :side:

That resembles my head! LMAO Purpose built for a turbo and does it work?
Lets go play! It could use a larger turbo I'm sure but on the street, it's all you need! It never wheelies in 3rd but it does in 2nd. It is longer and lower than Jeffs by quite a bit! At 10#'s of boost it's absolutely durable. Took a while to nail the tuneup, way different combo than we use to run years ago. New base line had to be set. Would I do it again, maybe. I have 2 Gpz head and 1 is going on the other turbo build. Way bigger turbo and motor and maybe not so streetable.
I remember someone who is posting on this thread telling me on my Z1R build that I needed to run a lot bigger rear sprocket because someone else did. If you know turbos and Kaws, you can tell me why I didn't.
Turbos aren't new and there is plenty of info out there. You want to go to the absolutely edge of performance capabilities then prepare yourself financially! You want mind numbing performance with a splash of visual wow, do a simple proven combo, step out of the box, bring your wallet with you!

I was aiming the sprocket comment at another person who comments on turbo applications as to what works and it seems to change as he gathers other information from real builders.
The head you built works! And very well I might add, it can take a bigger turbo than I'm running but good setup on the street.

Wow this thread went a couple directions while I was whitlin' on some bike parts.... I appreciate all the comments and guidance from Les, Larry, etc....
I think I have a plan (rough draft) for my setup. Going to do some sniffing around for a nice T25 with MWE compressor side.

Cory,
Two very sharp turbo guys on this board that I would rely on their advice are Les and DFIGPZ. Both of them have much more experience setting up a turbo than I do. I do my best to optimize the cylinder heads for their intended purpose and it' doesn't matter if it's forced induction or n/a.
I don't know anyone who prefers the type of a motor that goes from feeling weak one moment to outrageously violent the next. While that's kind of fun for a short time, it gets old. Making broad power with progressively more and more pull is a lot more useful on the street.... JMO
