I ran 13.5:1 1197 pistons in my 74 z1,big cam with a lot of overlap knock a lot of the actual cranking/cylinder pressure off.
Without knowing whats being done to the head theres know way to estimate horsepower.
It could make 105hp or it could make 125hp

115hp would be a good estimate in that case

I am either gonna use a j model head or the 900 head ported not really sure what size valves to get or or what cam would even be the best I have my eye on the Andrews 2x but I am not afraid to modify the the head and go bigger . I want this build to make a radical street machine that will cruise around town and have enough power to run some of the newer bikes out . This bike is not my main transportation . 125 is at the wheel I hope . I was kind of shooting for around 150 . I stretched a swingarm 6 over witch will be going on tomorrow if time is on my side before I go to work. This is the first time I have ever built a bike engine other than oem rebuild so any pointers would great . And please leave out the buy a zx10 and 13.5:1 is not gonna be good on the street commentary . Because I know that with the right cam and carb combo it will be fine . This is not a touring rig thanks in advance

With a decent head 125hp at rear wheel wont be a problem, you do realize youll have to start with a bare set of engine cases and build this motor from ground up right?
Don't worry,I hate zx10s! :woohoo:

Its deffitenly a lot of work and its not cheap. Youll need welded crank, back cut trans, cams, carbs, head work, and on and on. It adds up really fast. And if you a j head you have to buy a idler tower to make it work. You gotta machine the head to make the tower fit.
1980 kz1000B4 LTD- 1327cc 9-1 comp
Ported J model head
Psp-3x cams
RS 36s
Welded MK11 crank
Back-cut MK11 trans
MTC 2 stage lock up
Stretched 4-6 over running Hayabusa rear rim with 190 rear tire
Complete frame brace kit installed
And Much Much more- SOLD
2014- ZX14R all stock for now

I am aware of all the work that goes with this project and can done most machining my self it's kind of my line of work . I am a industrial maintenance machinist . But the thing I would like to know is what is a good cam set I know that the higher lift cam will make it run much cooler . Another thing is what size jets would I need to run on pump gas 93 octaine . And in advance I live in indiana where there is now admission testing . The is and still will be Vance and Hines with no baffle . I am not worried about the money I am piecing this motor together mostly from eBay and a couple of sources I have here around home . If you have any tips as to what I can do to make good power my ears are open the motor I am building is a donor and I said I will be doing most all off the work so let's talk about valves jetting dual plugs timing lock up clutches what is the best ?

If theyre doing emmisions testing there Id say youre screwed unless you can license it someplace else.
Do they do a visual inspection also or just mechanical testing?
