Newly rebuilt KZ1000P engine will not rev...

I had a rectifier that was not hooked up properly and I had similar problems. The bike would not idle smoothly and would not rev at all. If your timing is way off, it might idle but will not rev much.
The simple things are often the big problems. Triple check everything you thought was okay.

i pulled a header out of the rafters one time and installed it.the bike would fire right up and idle but not take the rpm's.it would die away if you throttled it.my buddy pulled the baffle out of it and a big nest of some sort came out  .fired the bike up and it ran great.

roman_dog wrote: Motor Head - Nope. When I dropped it off we messed with it for about an hour. Checked spark, synched carbs, ect. They all kinda scrathed their heads and told me to leave it there. We'll see. If they can fix it I'll post a video, if not I don't know what the heck I'll do with it.
Well hopefully they can help you with your bike. As you stated before the "Rebuild" it ran OK. Now it won't Rev. Sounds like something is incorrect. I was hoping for a Camshaft to cylinder head picture on the right hand/ #4 end, to show the lobe configuration to see where the cams were.
Those BS34 CV Carbs, they are the OEM Kawasaki Carbs, not off of a Suzuki GS? The Suzuki version had a spring under the Needle where it goes into the slide valve, which lifts the needle up while the slide is still closed. If it has this style and the Needle and its clip are put in before the spring, the jetting will be Way Lean, and it won't want to Rev. I ran across this Once on a buddies GS Suzuki.
Otherwise the plugged EX is a good theory, depending how long it sat and where it was stored. Rats can nest overnight, for sure.

Thanks, I'm kinda wondering if it is in fact my IC igniter. Since this started with an entire police bike wiring harness, I ripped it all out and did a custom bare bones harness, only the essentials. I reused the big parts like the pickups, igniter, and regulater, ect. However, I relocated everything to fit the frame mods I made and lengthened the 4 pickup wires and the IC Igniter wires. Now I'm good at soldering, and have continuity going through all the wires I lengthened, but do you think that could be causing my problem?
Pissed that my bike is still in the shop, if I wasn't in school and had more time I'd just pick it up and take it elsewhere. These guys haven't even started on it yet.
