If timing advancer was removed and replaced, would assure that the rotor is positioned correctly, and not 180° off.
( I see where bountyhunter had already suggested this. )

It doesn't matter, because the coil primary winding terminals are non-polar.
The concern in the case at hand is not so much about the existence of good spark as it is about the timing of the good spark.
If the plug wires from the coils are attached to the wrong plugs, or if the signal wires are reversed by being attached to the wrong coil, or if the advancer rotor is 180° off, the timing of the good spark will be incorrect.

The down side to this, is you often then soot up the plugs quickly!

but good to here it will try, probably need to pull the carbs and clean them. Clean the fuel tank and petcock. Maybe put on new line, and a in-line filter for a gravity feed system, not for a pump.
