You must be laughing your ass off when typing these questions... aren't you...
Quiz my ass, this is a final exam... :S
Hell why not just through in the bonus question of what is the trajectory of the Space Shuttle as it renters the earths atmosphere but dogging meteorites @ 10 each the size of a KZ1000 at 500mph.
Damn dude...
Oh BTW, sorry to be so offensive, don't want be a dick and hurt your little feelings....
No laughing at all at anyone... just raising the bar a notch above plugged pilot jets 101 and back fire on deceleration
I know there's some good tuners around here. I've talked to them
Because..... you're an engineer by trade and failed to do you homework .... You fail with an F and need to bring in a note from your parents and give it to Plummen on Monday. If he smacks your hand with a ruler... I'm turning a blind eye to it :woohoo:
PS - he told me earlier that he now has a ruler made out of an old fork tube ....

one of your stage 1 port jobs would be more than enough,410 cams and a set of 29-31 carbs would turn just about any sportbikes world upside down especially with a 900 crank
bigger inch motors motors make so much power so quick on the street theres no reason for fancy valve trains and ignitions needed for a psycho mini motor spinning 9000 rpms which is unrealistic on a streetbike anyway .
anybody who thinks a big motor wont run on small carbs look up dale walkers old bikes from late 70s! :woohoo:

I wouldn't say final exam Dave, but that'd be an average midterm in engineering fluid dynamics haha.
My main question Larry, is what are the equations that you use to identify these things? I suppose mean air speed would have to do with actually filling the cylinder in the time allotted(duration of cam as a fraction of a cycle, divide that by revs to get time). But my main thing would be valve size. What correlation are you using to determine required valve size at a certain lift to get the required flow rate?
I use feet per second at 28" steady state for mean air speed.
Valve size is a variable for flow and clearance reasons.

I really wish I could answer...more learnin' to do.
Try the Wallace Racing Calculator on line. You might like some of the stuff on their site
If you need a spec for the calculator, just holler. Play with it a bit...

Street port head with J intake valves
Dyna S ignition
V&H exhaust system
Keihin CR31 Specials
Cam Motion Z5 cams unless stock SOB tappets can't be used, then I second the Z1 grind

call me an old tightass redneck hill billy from nebraska, but id say for a daily rider put together right with decent porting job and right carbs/cams youll outgun the seat of your pants before you outgun stock size intake valves :laugh:I'll give it a shot-

My calculations were this, I worked from them. The engine meets the goal.
CFM required @28" = 167 [100@10"](167*.598)
To get that I used 37.5 / 31 valve sizes.
Web 493 Cams
Started with VM33, now at RS36
Main difference is the newer flat slides just plain out perform the old round slide 33's in smoothness
