Jordan sorry for writing over you!

I will be building a 1393 or 1428cc motor for my dragbike. I just purchased the big block, and will soon be searching for pistons. I have really been thinking about which route i want to take on compression. If i can get compression down to around 9 or 10:1 would it be possible to remain somewhat streetable?

(Yes without a problem)

I will not have wild cams,

(Cam lift will determine engines life)

and will be using flatslides.

(This is the big problem, jetting flat slides for street use. Now you have four throttle cables to keep in syc on a street bike, these carbs aren't made for sitting at stop lights! Doable? Very hard)

By streetable, i am only wanting to ride it maybe a 40 mile stretch total.

(This should not be a problem on a 9-10.1 motor. Somewhere in this world, someone is doing it now)

I will be running an oil cooler, and I plan on doing the dry block mod posted earlier on the forum.

(Sounds good to me)

If all streetability will be lost by using the big block, i will just go radical and go high compression.

(It will only be lost, if you take it away)

i ran 1327 cc, 10.5:1 on the street last year with that block u have Jordan. no problem.
the mid size cams extra duration will keep the compression down a bit.u can expect 200psi compression. which will run fine on pump gas, with a Dana2000.
U don’t need small cams for torque since that will be provided with the added cc"s.
Larry C did a beautiful job on my head. and rs flatslides are awesome for the street. I can get some 38"s for u if u need them.i know a guy who has run a 1428 on the street on and off, for 20 years.
u can run it all day if u keep going. the trouble comes when u hit stop and go traffic. as long as u keep moving , it keeps cooling. mind u, i didn’t ride it in 100* weather up hear.
If u run the big cams u need to respring more offten.
Mid size cams will be more fun on the street, stay under .435 lift, and hit it with nos on the track.:woohoo:
