.
You don't NEED an oil cooler especially if running a stock block but i would defo have one if running a big block as they need all the cooling help they can get.
BTW here's a pic of my latest ZED project with BIG BLOCK etc.
that really is awesome work btw are kzs popular in jolly old england ?? old trumpets(triumphs) & beezas(bsa)& nortons are well respected here in the states!!!!! also would one NEED an oil cooler with your setup ???

I've done loads of these now with no problems.
All the mods pictured on this thread were done at home with nothing more than a pillar drill and some patience.
And here's a cylinder head i've just twin plugged on the same drill . EASY
I am still VERY interested in having this done to my head this fall. Does anyone know of a person that can do this work in the States?
I checked with Ward Performance about their top end oiler kits that they sell for the Suzuki's and for the Vortex heads and they told me that the stock Kaw head casting is too thin to run a top end oiler kit. I was really hoping they would at least do the machining if not sell a whole kit too. I think the castings are plenty thick since we have people on here that have done it and tested it for years with no issues.

Wow, you are really handy with home tools! Great work. Is a "pillar drill" what we would call a "drill press" here?
I was wondering how you'd hook up an oil cooler with the dry block mod since those connections are now feeding your top end. Have you done an oil cooler with the top end oiling kit?

Yes. We also call it a drill press too.

All my own engines i have modded have an oil cooler too.
I just take the cam oil feed lines from a splitter block on the return side of the cooler that goes to the main oil gallery. See pic below.

I should have noticed the fittings. I've wondered before if the oil cooler would take away pressure from the top end oiler lines - do you think it would? I guess you've run them long enough to know that it works OK anyway.

Pressure will just be the same as a stock motor maybe a touch higher as the oil isn't getting as hot and thin since it coming straight from the cooler and not up the hot cylinder block.
I have three zeds now all running fine with this oiling set up,It was a common mod on all old school big blocked Zed drag bikes of the 70's/80's.
