I cannot believe how cheap you are! Mobil1 is NOT the most expensive oil you can buy. :P

I repair car engines all the time, so I know why they die.
To all engine oil "specialists", I suggest buying most expensive oil with brightest label. :P

There are limits to everything. Oil is nothing to scrimp on.

The "Supertech" oil as sold by Walmart, the cheapest oil Walmart sells I believe, still meets all the common and typical oil test specifications for new engines. I've used the diesel flavor in my bikes before without issue, and wouldn't hesitate to use the auto oil in my car. There is a good bit of chatter on Bob Is The Oil Guy about these oils, and while the additive package isn't anything special, oil analysis reports are almost always good.

The main thing with any oil is to change it. I do believe there are some minor differences between oils, but not to the extent that people presume.

Just saw on Fox news that dollar general oil is screwing up motors ("thinking" it was 20,000 complaints or law suits, think I am remembering that part right)..... they said its not API approved and if its not stay away.

I always use synthetic Mobil 1 in my car 5/30 mainly for the quick flow, longer oil changes and high heat protection...... would use 4T for the same reason but after changing it my starter clutch immediatly went to hell..... Ed has proven that it wasn't that but now its got me so damn gun shy I can't go back....... to many right answers out there and thinking you mainly just need to use what you feel good about.

People say:
I used ..... oil for 10 years and engine runs fine.
This is answer to all oil discussions: It doesn't matter which oil you use, if you change it on time. Flushing is very important, you need to flush engine every other oil change, unless you just bought a bike. First few changes I would flush every time.

I run basic heavy duty 10W-40 in all my fleet cars. I was getting 350k miles out of little 4 bangers changing the oil every 3k miles and the filter every 6k miles. I had a Dodge 1500 van bought new in 95 got 525k miles without ever opening the valve covers. another 03 Dodge with 505k miles. The 95 rusted out and the 03 blew the trans. I buy cars (as long as they're in decent shape) with 150k miles on them because I know I can stretch them out. haha
