2 years ago my son's 650 got stolen and the Berkeley police did nothing, they didn't even add it to the "hot" sheet so 2 months later when a towing company called him and asked what he wanted to do about the $1500.00 ( I think) towing and storage fees for his bike that they had. it was a big surprise.
He was able to talk them down to around $400.00 and the members of B.A.R.F. ( Bay Area Riders Forum) took up a collection to help him out and a member even trailered his bike back to his place, great people.
He even had the perp on a camera but it was no help.
There are a lot of really messed up people out there, be careful with your new bike.

Stealing a motorcycle is one thing, but arson is a whole different kind of crime --- maybe someone should point this out to the police???bluej58 wrote: Sadly I think the cops out there have much bigger problems to deal with.

That is the best choice, my ELR was/is being rebuilt from a burnt out bike, everything apart from the frame, wheels, swing arm and motor was trashed - a lot worse than yours. Being so hard to find parts for it and the write off state of it made the restoration much much harder.
The red 81 GPz550 was rebuilt from my stolen and recovered bike, I ended scrapping the frame and front end, smashed plastics, clocks and lots of other bits. That was easier as parts are easier and cheaper to find for those.
Restoring complete running bikes is time consuming enough, incomplete, smashed, crashed or burned bikes are projects for fools.

I love the Falco. Do you have a large, well-armed friend to keep an eye on it for you?

and yet you have/are restoring 2 that fall into that category? I completely agree with you. it just bums me out to see the bike go out like this. had some great trips with him.
