I'm going back in to make that one race fit easier. While spinning the crank I can feel a slight bind. Jeff said if this was a babbitt bearing crank it would be more critical. I noticed some chattering at low idle and the crank was walking around. You can see the wear marks at the end of the one clip. I have the potential of doubling the HP so this is a MUST DO.

So much for the bracing. Another hole to fall into. Putting the lower end anyway.

Back many years ago, when I lived in Detroit, I worked in a small moto speed shop that also did frame mods to Z1s and H2s.... they would ALWAYS, strip the frame clean, weld up the Z braces and what not, then send the frame out to be heat relieved/annealed, then repainted or powder coated.
Their claim was that welding the frame cold and just reassembling could add all kinds of stress points to the frame... causing possible failures later when out rockin' the dog.

May have the head on this afternoon. Gotta bring in that nasty exhaust system and clean it tonight. May be running by noon tomorrow.

My manual calls for a limit of 19.5ft lbs for the main center cap. I think same for the 8mm ones.
never mind, ...I just re-watched and heard you say about 18ft lbs.....
