I may have to reuse my rings. Z1E is out of stock. I have one set so even if the cost is higher for the other three somewhere else, it should still be affordable. Suggestions?

Kinda hate to paint it. I watched Jon build his bike and this color blue was a unusual but cool choice. I may paint it silver like my original barrels were. Last pics as it was. Jon's going 1075 and I hope he keeps the same color.

I hope they work for you Steve. I should have blasted them in my cabinet for you before I sent them. Those were my stock barrels that I replaced with 1075s because of the broken fins. The 1075s have been in for quite some time, I just never throw anything away.:cheer:

The price of rings has more than doubled if you can get them. I've been watching some 2756XA Wiseco rings but just measured a new set of XC rings and they are different. I'm now thinking I'll pick up a set of 180 grit stones for my hone and reuse my old rings. Comments?

Broken fin repair.
Ground and filed them. Good clean bond so they should hold up well. Need a guide and center roller then I'm ready to put it together.

I hope to have it done in a weekend. Got a new clutch basket I picked up last year. Looking forward to that primary drive whurr again. I want to compare both cranks and get as much info as I can about the differences. Couldn't find anything about the Z2 crank. I'm thinking about buying another 903 crank I've been watching for the parts to freshen up the Z2 crank for sale. I hope I haven't trashed it.

ring end gap should be your deciding factor in re-using your old rings or not.

I'll be sure to check them. Checked the bores with one of my old Wiseco pistons and they're tight. More later.

Pistons of same brand will vary in size as will different brands can be way different in size.
I found Wiseco pistons were smaller than MTC pistons in size
Example is when I sent Joe Hopper my cylinder block he was able to reuse my sleeves and hone them to fit my new MTC pistons even thou both were listed as 1075 cc. Also Joe checks each piston and each bore may be slightly different to achieve the proper cylinder to wall clearance

I always try to do that especially with used bores and pistons. Don't like reusing rings but may have no choice. I did it three years ago when I found another bad piston. Even with the stock 8.5/1 pistons, the bike ran well. jeff R told me the VW's had 6.5/1 and still won races. 90 psi is low but the gauge green line starts at 70 so it would run. Amazing the 33's worked at all at idle. Like you guys said, I'll have to learn how to ride it all over again. :woohoo:
Can't wait.
