...woah-woah-woah! Where's all the hate comin' from? I ride my Harley all year 'round, been clockin' some good winter miles, too. We had a nice 48 mile round trip from work today. I don't just take mine out on Bike Week and I doubt them other boys do either. Spread the love, we're all bikers.

I'm not hating but Bike Week takes on a whole new meaning when you live in Daytona. I know that there are Harley riders that ride their bikes year round. I know quite a few. But I also know a guy that just sold an '04 Road King with less than 4,000 miles on it because the only times he rode it were Bike Week and Biketoberfest. There's just a lot of discourteous bikers and from my experience most of them are on Harley's. 30 bike pack that take up both lanes of US1 and go 35 mph in a 55 mph zone is really annoying when you're trying to get to work. On my way to work today I waved to probably 20 bikes and the only guy that waved back was the guy on his carbon fiber road bike pedaling his ass off doing his best Lance Armstrong impression. Being a biker has changed a lot from when I first started riding almost 30 years ago. Everyone waved because it didn't matter what you rode it was that you rode and everyone would help someone no matter what they rode. I remember one time I was riding my first bike a GS450 and I lost the clip on my master link. The only person that stopped to help me was an old guy on a hard tail pan and not only did he fix my bike he wouldn't let me pay him for the part. To me that is what being a biker is about. Maybe it's just the attitude of the younger generation and after 5 years of it I just kinda steer clear. I do go out once in a while but for the most part I just stick to the back roads until it's over.

I eyef*cked my bike for a bit, and decided all I really need to do is have my seat covered. I was concerned about my fuel mixture but the fine community here in formed me that it's good. I <3 this forum!

...well, maybe some of those boys feel it's hip to be bad ass for Bike Week. But, I see my share of assholes and they ride just about every brand out there, not just Harleys. As a matter of fact, where I'm from, the most courteous seem to be the Harley owners. Probably because most of them are a wee bit older than the guys riding crotch rockets. With that being said, we do have our assholes on Hogs as well.

...your point is well taken on the wave. I hit the road with my first street bike in 1970. Everyone waved back then. It was more like a brotherhood. If you were on the side of the road, other bikers would stop and ask if you needed help. It's just not the same today.

...and if I were you, I'd get the hell out of Dodge for Bike Week. Sounds like a good time to vacation in other parts. ;)
