This is the bike in it's current state. Future plans call for a updated front fork and wheel. A new seat and a different exhaust system and an oil cooler. I'm not sure what I want to keep the current swing arm or swap it out for something else.

I have an old school z650 fighter that I have owned since new.
Motor is an 810 wiseco with a flowed head and andrew#20 cams, yoshimura headers eith a home made connection pipe and muffler, 83 gpz1100 fuel injection run off a megasquirt ecu and a dyna s ignition that is going to be replace shortly with timing wheel set up on the MS ecu. The dyna s works great b ut uses a lot of amps that I dont have to spare
Wheels are gsxr 400 jap import that I fitted in south africa front is a 17" and the rear is an 18", forks are lengthened 40 mm to compensate for the smaller dia wheel and the yokes are modified fzr1000 because they are wider for the 17" front wheel.
Forks have a home made fork brace and are fitted with cartride emulators. front discs are gsxr with fireblade calipers. Swingarm is gsx1100 with zrx1100 shocks. Seat is guiliari, and the guards are fibreglass.
I have collected the parts for my next fighter a gpz900, shes also gonna be a real bitsa.

Dave, I think that I have told you before, but it bears repeating. I think that picture of your bike is an inspiration. Gorgeous! It never ceases to amaze me, how many members here have owned their bike since new. That is a real testament. I'll never have that opportunity with a KZ, but I doubt that I'll ever lack a KZ from now on. A 650 is next on my list.
I think it's great that you were here 9 months ago saying someone else's bike was an inspiration to you and your build when yours is now an inspiration to so many of us.

I was just going through some old threads looking for something to resurrect when I happened upon my own thread here. It seems appropriate to update it since I finished my bike. Maybe the fresh look will give some of the newer members some good or bad ideas dependent upon who's opinion you ask. I didn't quite make my time or budget goal, but I am happy with the result:
That is without doubt one of the finest examples of bike I,ve seen on many forums for a long time . It looks the dogs boll*cks . If your work on the 650 project is as good as this and close to the artwork then its gonna be another stunner . I,m looking forward to it already . It would be nice to here her running .
Enjoy

I have updates, but no where near a completed machine like Josh. Joshs' build thread is one of the most complete and comprehensive you will find on this site in building a monoshock Kz. I am certain it will serve as a template and inspiration for 100's of Kz owners

z650c3 that's a hell of a compliment. Cheers! I must say that my originally planned 650 project has morphed into a GS750. Sometimes a deal just drops into your lap. It's not as pretty as a z650, but I own it, so I'll build it to my taste. I even toyed with the notion of hanging some 650 bodywork on the GS, but that will require some major surgery. The backbone of the Suzuki frame is substantially wider than the Kawasaki frame.
Oh yeah, I'll try and post a video once I get it tuned properly.

got a Z11r frame and most of an engine, with the bits i have collected over the last 10 years or so i had enough to almost build an other one:woohoo: .
so made some space in the dinning room and put the bits together.
so far,
zrx yokes and forks,wheel
z11r engine,frame,bodywork.
gsxr swinging arm ,and wheel(well, i'll take that out my other one).
"yohlins" shocks from a xjr13.
plan is for no light's ,total loss ignition,80's sooperbike stylie.
need to get pistons and rings, exhaust, dyna coils etc
hope it will run this year but money is tight:blush:
so who knows....
hee hee never touched me!
