Are you gonna take the motor apart any? Because I heard some of those 1980 LTD's ended up with MKII motors in them.
I'm hoping mine is, but I haven't even taken my valve cover off yet.

As a matter of fact all my bikes have MarkII engines.
"77" "79" and "80".
The electrics on the "77" are holding up fine. Roy

I think we have about three days on the frame. We used paint remover, grinders with wire wheels, and today a sand blaster.
I stiffened the neck up and still have some cosmetic work to do around the steering neck.
I got the side covers and duck tail just about ready.
I primed the frame so it could set all night.
Cleaned all the shiny parts that attach to frame.
Tomorrow we have wheels and engine to clean.
I have a GS swingarm on ebay and i think i will pull it off eBay if there are no bids by tomorrow night and use it on the bike.
I usally do bikes at a lot s l o w e r pace but since the bike is at a friend shop i feel under pressure to get it done.
I didn't take my camera but i will tomorrow.
I hope to have this bike on the wheels by this week end.

Paint was going on great. I started to shoot the second coat and noticed some fish eyes around the steering stem. No worry there as i could wet sand it after the paint dried.
I came back to look again several minutes later and the paint looked as if it was drawing up and shrinking????
I had to remove the paint before it dried.
Major Bummer. I am going to have a talk with the guy that mixed the paint.
So i start off today with the sand blaster again.
I had to make some progress doing something so i put my Kawasaki sticker in my rear glass of my truck.

I got the frame sand blasted again and i primered it Thursday then painted it Friday before i rode to Illinois.
There is a lot of work cleaning parts and painting.
I could not believe the number of parts that need paint.
At least i think i got the paint mixture down. I just backed off on the hardner a mite.
I have been cleaning chrome. I think i will install a Kerker painted black. I have a set of carbs that are jetted for that set up. Then i will clean up the exhaust and see how it turns out.
Decals are going to cost. I might hold off on them for a while.

He rides a Harley but is alright in my book.
It is time consuming to clean all the little parts and clear coat the bolts.
We started bolting parts on two days ago.
Surley the bike will be together this week end. (Maybe)
