Yes i put on the shocks same time i put on the rearwheel.I forgot about to see how they feel on the little testride haha. Not sure i like the look of them either so maybe i put the orginals back on.Your bike looks super i like the kz1000 better than the 900 so im looking to buy one if i can find one with a normal price.

Yes, i agree,..the look with the "naked" originals is much better!
The `76 Z900 have never had the reflectors on the shocks, ( at my acknowledgement), they´ve been only at the former models Z1, Z1A, Z1B,...But here are better spacialist than me, to know about...
I think the chances of finding a good Z1000 are pretty good right now. In Germany, pretty good, original Z1000 or KZ1000 models are popping up all the time, usually for the average price of around €7,500-9,000, and with a bit of luck, even much less...A buddy of me have actual offered an original and good conditioned KZ1000 from the USA, ( single disc on front), with very low mileage in a great shape in blue, for 7500,- Euro OBO.....

And there is the old saying: All things come to those who can wait (except when you are already too old and time is running out...).

Yes the 76 did not have the reflectors.I just bought them on inpulse since they was cheep when i bought the vintage dunlop tires fom z power uk.Probably not the best quality.
The Kawasaki z 1000 and 900  here in Norway is expensive. There are some kz1000 for sale now in price range 12000 to 13500 euro.
And a z1300  that seller wants 29419 euro !!!  not sure he will  get that sold.
What i dont understand is how the prices suddely on new bikes jumped 10 000-20 000 usd at dealers.Or maybe i just have not follow the market?

I´ve had ones uppon a time, also these reflector-shocks on my Z1B,..standing as a restauration in my living room,..cause at that time, they `ve been much cheaper than good conditioned used originals.. ;-) ,
it's rather unusual, since you prefer the Z1000 to the Z900. Most people prefer the Z900 to the Z1000. Perhaps you have the chance to trade your Z900 for a Z1000 at a profit?

(I really like the Z1 and Z900, but I wouldn't want to ride them in their original condition these days. Too much "ballast" with the beautiful 4-4. For me,as a non-so-100%-original customer, it's more something for the eye and to look at than to ride...)..And in fact: The 4-2 on the Z1000 is something nice, and today, i like it, ... but for me, not at the top-ranking for 4-2-systems,....per example, the old Ducati 900 SS "Conti" silencers are very  fine designed, i like them very much,..and the sound was real  R&R ;-) ;-)

Those original KZ900-1000 rear shocks can be "glammed" up, they do come apart. I do it all the time and have the springs re-chromed, have a box of them already finished. Hey..how did that cup get in there Rolf?

I was looking for a z1000 and bought one 2023 that was very nice ( at first) ,but i found out after some days it had some damages that was bad.I took some pictures and contacted the seller and he gave me the money back straight away .I did not even need to use a gun haha joking.  The seller was very nice guy and i dont think he tried to fool ,me. he just did not know much about motorcycles .
Anyway then suddenly the kz900 i have now turned up only 10 minutes drive from me .so i called the seller and run in to my car and about 15 miutes later the bike was mine.

Asphalt900  You do very nice work! i did not know that the shocks cold be refurbished.I dont think i will try doing that could ending up with 4 front theeth knocked out or a eyeball on the floor ha ha. So you use a spring compressor for motorcycle chocks?
I did first not understand what you meant about the cup and was looking at the first picture and thinking you meant the reflector cup haha then i saw next picture with the Norwegian cup  .Then i walked fast as i could in to my kitchen an had a look in the kabin and just as i suspected one of my Norwegian cups was missing .!!! you bast....

To avoid the risk of losing my front teeth, I built myself a spring tensioner several years ago. This allows me to safely tension and release the spring. If desired, I can provide better detailed pictures or a parts list with dimensions...It´s easy to build this, and it helps immense!

Didn't think You would notice the missing cup Rolf, had Kris Kringle snag it from you last Christmas. He was going that way anyway. Thought i would re-gift it to this coming Christmas as to complete your set, haha. Clever tool Joe!! I just modified cheap-o spring compressor kit and found a front outer carrier race bearing from a Ford Escort fits the adjuster perfectly. It's nutty how a sorted mine works, ha.
