1978 KZ1000 Project

That doesn't have the model # on the side. It might be a cheap Chinese knock off junk.

That is a cheap Chinese Repop. I think you need to put the search word "genuine sh775" to get the real thing.
Look for a good used one on Ebay. Anything worth buying is going to be +$100 Canadian by the time its received.

I have bought a few used ones from there, search "2013 Polaris RZR800 ATV regulator". You need to be sure it is OEM, be sure you can see the ID number in the seller photos.

It was dirty (ATV) but it cleaned up OK and works excellent.

You can also buy the wire harness kits from Ebay (Chinese stuff OK) search "voltage rectifier connector for street Triple 675 675r 1050R T2500676"



Use thick ground (black) and power wires (red w 30A inline fuse), hook up directly to battery. Other side goes to generator plug.



 

Injected, do you have a picture of the Polaris regulator installed?  I got one for my KZ650 but had a very hard time finding appropriate location.  Ended up using a smaller Yamaha regulator for the time being, but would like to install the bigger unit.

This is what it looks like on my KZ650 B2.
You can install it in the stock location on the battery box but you can't use the stock lower mounting thread.
There is a hole on the box that is close, it just needs to be slotted with a round file then use a M6 nylock nut on the back side. Its not quite a 6mm drilled hole over, if you do that it ends up being too cocked and the top plug fouls on the side cover tab. It does fit under the side cover, its tight but it does not hit. I just used a 1/4" round file or you could use a 1/4" carbide Dremel bit till it lines up with the regulator hole. Transfer punch the hole center with the plugs installed.
