Sounds like NK racing knows his stuff. So many monoshock conversions screw this up. If you are a computer guy its relatively easy to draw it out in CAD and move the wheel through its travel to see what the shock relation is. Alternatively, you can remove the spring on the shock and measure the shock as you move the wheel through its travel.

Thanks Doc, he was mentored in his early days by one of the founders at "Maxton". I am definitely "anologue" when it comes to CAD etc so the link you have posted will be helpful in checking my work before I burn it in permanently. At the moment I have gone by studying pictures of GSXR in the rest position for my starting point (interestly the previous model has the pivot on the same vertical axis as the swingarm pivot, whereas the "K" model that I have the parts from sets it slightly aft of the swingarm pivot) I have used a matched set of "K" components that were designed to work together so hopefully I have a fighting chance.Sounds like NK racing knows his stuff. So today I have managed to get back on the build again. I have managed to get the top shock mount built for conversion. It may look a bit agricultural but with the length of the top mount being what it is to position the shock correctly I decided there would be a lot of torsional stress on the mounting point. With that in mind I have added a tube to transfer that stress into the backbone (I don't fancy the top mount letting go and the shock "hitting me in the nuts" just before the ensuing accident put's me in an ambulance)
Using the link provided by DoctoRot I have taken my measurements and am happy to report I appear to have got it right ( the below chart shows that it ramps up in the first half of the travel then goes linear for the second half) I have 125mm of wheel travel against 130mm quoted for a stock GSXR which is close enough for me and should ensure the conversion doesn't try and kill me I have added some before and after pic's (I know I need to clean up the welds, they are more functional than pretty )

Managed to take advantage of the crappy weather today to make some noise without pissing the neighbours off completely (no BBQ's or garden party's going on
) I have finished cutting and grinding off all the bits I don't want so I now have a blank canvas to work from
PS: I got a surprise when the shock mounts came off- is this really how the factory built them back then (don't weld that they won't see it when the mount is on )

To be honest it’s the shock mounts I’m looking for to rescue a z1000 a2 frame, it’s a titled frame that was chopped and never fully rebuilt and then scrapped. I’m confident I can bring it Back from the edge, to near stock..ish…

PM me your address and I will post them out - do you want the battery box to go with the mounts (it's rusty but salvageable)
