Man, that sucks! Glad to hear that you're alright, though. That's what's most important. A motorcycle can be rebuilt - the human body, not always quite that easy.

Thanks Guys, My Wife is the most tourqed on the situation! But as a GREAT Trooper agrees It will be rebuilt. And she reminded me of the time at a show at the York PA show for the Patomac Enduro Riders Club, a chopper that was very simalar caught my eye and I went back a few times to get some looks. She knew it was just a matter of time before I'd have one! And behold, yrs later I bought this and have rode the shit out of it!! Definatly a top shelf bike. And you and my other friends on other forums will see it rise. Pretty hokey huh! Let me finish the 1971 Husqvarna Enduro 360C 8speed, And I'll dump some....ALOT of cash into this wicked beautiful and great riding bike!! Chris

Damn man that sucks. A few years ago I had a a homeless person set my cherry KZ650 on fire. It didn't burn near as bad as that but it was bad enough that i parted it out. Hope you had insurance. I didn't...

So I am getting close on my latest Husqvarna, and am waiting on some parts. So today I took the Chopper mostly apart. I left the roller so I can keep it mobile, when i save some cash to do the chrome, it will come completely apart. But with the motor out and the Husky coming off the bench I can bgin the disassembly and inspection of the inards. She was a pretty fast motor, so who knows what the PO did to the inside. Time will tell. Chris

So I've got the motor on the bench and as I ponder the work ahead I am wondering if there is a six speed trans set I can upgrade this motor to, or is the final drive the only way to adjust the highway speed to bring down the rpm? Chris

It would be easier and cheaper to alter the gear ratio with your sprocket selection, IMO...

Sanctuary has a 6 speed kit but its big bucks. I'm not aware of any 6 speed swap. These engines have so much torque you don't really need a 6 speed transmission, - you can lower your final drive ratio.

Alternatively you can swap for a 83-84 GPZ1100 transmission IIRC it has a stronger 3rd gear, and a lower drive ratio in 5th which will accomplish a lower rpm, also think it has some factory undercutting. You need different bearings at the minimum to fit. maybe different clutch and shift drum-cant remember. there are a couple threads about it on here somewhere.

Thanks guys, I'm not looking for any extra work, so the final drive will be what i'll use to try and bring it to a non airplane take-off highway rpm. I'll post some pics of the whole disassembly and rebuild! Thanks Chris

Try 16 tooth x 33 tooth ratio.
I run that on my turbo bike
