Looks like a "sidewinder" style drag pipe.
Shift light, hardtail, extended arm and fat tire all fit the "drag bike" theme.
It can probably be launched pretty hard, to be truthful.
Pods look too small to cruise around on CV carbs , but I doubt it cruises much with the hardtail rear.

I agree, the pods are way too small to flow and filter the intake air./ fuel charge. Quite the "upgrade". A stock box would flow more air, smooth it out the air flow, and make the engine more efficient at the same time. Those cotton / oil soaked sponges are a restriction, and just guessing here, a real high flow rate may actually cause the carbs to draw a slight vacuum within the pods causing the vacuum slide / needle to close causing inconsistent fuel delivery.
As far as launching hard.. I hate the thought of trying to launch my bike hard on a sticky track. It would flat stand straight up the second I dropped the clutch and I could either walk it down the track, or let it go and dump it. LOL I had this happen on my XLH.. it stood straight up in the air, and by the time I got it back under control,, and down the track it ran a 18 something 1/4 mile. I'm sure it was quite the spectacle to watch. :woohoo:

I was gone for some time recently. When I got back, I took the bike out.
It took a long time to start and when I rode it it felt like the plugs had fouled.
I'm going to pull them and take a look, but I suspect the carbs leaking fuel into the intake while sitting.
Going to have to dig back into the carbs, now. I need to put a good set of jets in anyway.
I want to replace the factory petcock with an off/on style to give me some confidence there as well.

I've spent many miles launching two wheelers, it's quite exhilarating pulling a 1.5 60 with them.

Def sounds like it was wet with fuel. Mine used to do this until I rebuilt the vacuum petcock. It would drip fuel from the air-box drain and drip fuel on the floor. Don't light a match. boom. lol
I also store it as upright as I can to keep the float bowls / carbs as level as possible. (2X4 unter the kickstand) The center-stand would be best, but not possible in my 10X10' shed with no freakin room for it to swing back on the center stand. The floors are also 1/2" plywood.

Of course, the o-rings on the needle / seats needs to seal perfectly. I used a dremel tool to polish the bores when I had the carbs apart.

Many miles.. 60' at a time. lol
Yep, that would be a BIG rush to launch that hard. It would take a set of bars to keep the front wheel on the ground. :woohoo:

No bars needed, just body position and measured clutch action.

Ive been looking at petcock replacements, namely pingle adapter plates for what I believe is a 44mm bolt spacing.
I want a standard off / on non vacuum valve.
Any suggestions?

Re: KZ1000P conversion.
03 Mar 2019 01:30I put a cheap petcock on it for now to replace the original, along with an in line fuel filter, new plugs, oil and oil filter.
It's idling and revving well. Will see how it does on the next test ride.

My in line filter and clear fuel line ended up being longer than I wanted and fuel delivery seems off. It takes forever to get fuel on the first start.
Time to find a different more flexible line and re do it.
