"A thing of beauty and a joy forever." That's what my mentor Carl said about the work we did. B)

I did not bolt down the valve cover as it is easier to put in the frame with it off. Plus I do not want to scratch it. Many connections remain too. Starter cable, carb holders, etc. But I think I'll put it in the frame when possible. This one is much heavier than a 550 motor so I'll need a helper. My son is home from college for the summer, so probably in the next few days. Thursday I have a ton of chassis parts coming and will get to some more leaning and touch up. Lots to go.

Engine assembly went exactly as expected. I was able to get rings set correctly and in the block and everything bolted up and torqued down. There was compression while turning the crank to set the cam timing. Tensioner in last and the slack was taken up nicely.

I still need a battery and tires too.

More to come. R

Here a few pics. One stripped valve cover bolt. Had torque at 87 inch pounds but the thread peeled right off. An easy enough fis as its on of the thru bolts, but I had a one that was weakened also that is not a thru bolt. I teflon taped and they both bit well, but helicoil forthcoming. Otherwise things look good by me. I have suction at each intake and it's holding oil. :cheer:

A few pics. R

Wow! Lookin' really good R!

How I admire your speed and efficiency at this. It won't be long now I reckon before the only tool you'll be needing is your ride camera! :)

Check the connector coming from the right controls. Sounds like a wire is switched.
