Ha! Good memory Steve!
It's Davido's CSR1000 Project. About page 16 or 17
Sorry on my ph now so don't know how to link the page here. Davido shows how he made bucks to clamp/stamp the mesh steel to create 3-dimensional forms for side covers. Really cool looking too!

Well I ended up ordering the hook em horns side cover on ebay, will stick with stock side covers for now, if I don't get some updated pics on here by Wednesday I will be pretty disappointed. Ohio weather and busy schedule is keeping me down and the pile of new parts is getting bigger. I did get the carbs pulled off last week so I could get the air box off for my pod filters to fit, so they should go back on Sunday weather permitting.

Did you end up getting the oil drain plug sorted out? On one of my bikes that was put out to pasture for about 10 years I had a frozen drain plug like yours. I ended up using a dremel with cut off wheel to cut the sides of the stripped plug so there were 2 parralel sides and heating with torch. Then a big ass adjustable wrench was able to grab the 2 straight sides I made and it came off. Of course replaced with new plug after that.

I tried all those tricks, rounded bolt extracting socket, grinding on it to try and make flat edges, in the end I spent $25 bucks and got a new oil pan. I have the new plug so all is good, except when I opened the new pan I was pulling it out of the box and ripped that thing flimsy gasket, so there's that...

Damn, sorry to hear that but at least you have the new pan and plug so that should be a pretty simple and quick fix then you can swap the pans out! Best of luck and sorry for the crap luck

Man its been a while since I have been on here. Been moving and working on the new house for about a month, but still find a little time to work on the bike. Will be uploading pictures soon! Running into wiring issues right now, fuses getting fire hot when trying to start, cleaned out the fuses box and ALL wiring harnesses with cleaner and seems to be better, working on getting her to fire right now.

Fuses shouldn't be getting hot. Check your grounds.

That's my next stop, everything seemed good after I cleaned it all off, but want to take a day and double check.

I uploaded a few pictures to my profile, showing a little new paint, stripping on nonsense, cleaned up carbs, and the size of the future seat. I'm going a little ridiculous with the seat and doing a skateboard seat, pretty pumped to put this custom look on it, going for style, comfort comes later. Questions comments concerns?!

And the hits keep coming, last month I snapped my key off in the seat lock (yeah I know...). The new key I got from the hardware store works great, except for the gas cap, doesn't work at all. You guys ever had to rip one off and replace it? I'm just afraid of damaging the tank and not being able to get a new cap on.
