Day 1, let the fun begin! was created by Ohio88ace
Just picked this bad boy up today. 1981 kz1100, not sure what my complete plans are at this time, but it won't be stock. My first bike so if you have pointers I am all ears. As of right now the front tire is trash and it won't start. The guy I got it from says the battery won't hold a charge and is junk, apparently there were ground lights on it before and when they ripped them off is when the problem started.

I would recommend setting up a Photobucket account if you don't already have one. Upload to Photobucket and then copy the "URL" link and paste it in. Will embed the pic and everyone can see and no size issues now ;)

Lot of potential there, love the shape of that tank and the bikini fairing looks pretty slick there too!

Ordered an agm battery today, so next week we will be able to figure out if the battery is the problem. From what I am reading I should pick up a service manual for this beast, would really help and cut down on googling every question I have.

Spent the day outside working on getting shed-zilla running. After getting the new battery in and still not starting, then the bike going completely dead, found dirty connections in the fuse box and exposed wires under the seat and tank, and then the previous owner hooking up the plug wires completely wrong, she is now running good and i feel i can say strong. After fixing the wiring issues and getting the plug wires hooked up correctly she started up with some starting fluid help and now is running for the first time in over a year. I decided next was to clean the carbs and change the oil, which is where the next problem came up...The 17mm drain plug is completely stripped. I will be shopping for a new one, and a way to get the old one off, before i go back out. I guess with her running i cant complain too much about a stripped bolt. Also maybe an aftermarket air filter/ kit to dress up the carbs a bit.
