Finally got a HARRIS!!! Very happy. Ive been looking for the right pipe from the start of the build and a genuine Harris was one of the top 3 on my wish list. I missed out on an ebay one a few weeks ago, which pissed me off (and prompted me to buy the Yss shocks.) So I posted a wanted ad on the Z1owners club forum and got this.
It is 2nd hand but It seems very solid. No holes,No rust,No thin spots. The chrome is pretty good, better than I expected and it should polish up quite well,I think. There is one dent in it but its out of sight and I can live with that.Theres what looks like a repair weld on it which is unchromed, its nicely done so Ill polish that up as well. The hanger is a bit of a car crash,Ill whack that off.I have to figure out how/where to hang it once the engine is in.
I was told it has a race baffle in it and its very loud. Ill see how that goes, maybe I have to find a road baffle but thats for later down the line. For now,Ive got a Harris exhaust for my build. Im chuffed.

On a serious note that is sweet, definitely gonna be keeping mine I think. Have you seen the Delkevic headers and collector on ebay for £179.00?? I was toying with them for a while but have since spoken to a chromer and he will do the whole exhaust for £175

I had it narrowed down to a Motogpwerks,an Exhaustcraft or the Harris. The first 2 are stainless but out of my budget really and the Harris was the right price at the right time.
Im not a fan of chrome and was thinking to have it ceramic coated but its in pretty good nick so Ill leave it as is for now.A bit of spit and polish will get it sorted.
The other thing is that the whole paint scheme I was originaly planning was based around a black exhaust. Now ill have to rethink that. I have some ideas but thats for later.
Monkeydoodle, thats good you found someone to do that. I have heard that chromers generally avoid exhausts as they tend to pollute the dipping tank. Maybe thats the old days but good price. If the pipe is solid it should come out like new ( I would pull the name plate off it first and re-rivet it back on afterwards. Nothing says Harris like a name plate with Harris written on it!!)

If you are considering the Delkevic there is a member who's got one and posted some great feedback www.kzrider.com/forum/2-engine/598381-19...650-delkevic-exhaust
I'd love a harris exhaust for my z650 that would be great.

Yeah ain't that the truth, the chromer that I have used in the past for various projects that was local to me explained this to me (pollution of the tank) but referred me over to a guy in Coventry - only 40 minutes drive away so I'm happy with that. Bit of a downer regarding the name plate as it's missing, however I can make one up and re-rivet it and attach the new heatproof one sent to me from Norman Hyde
