So you run 26mm on your 900 cool. For now it is going to remain stock. So what ever will work best, but at some point would not mind 1075 kit and cam, but that is down the road. thanks for you help Matteson. peavylotus I have been told common reason the stop running is fuel injection failed an a lot of these bike and can be difficult to figure out. The carb switch over for my bike is easy, but to run fuel injection on other you need my head.I may sell the whole system when I take it off thanks Andrew

Vintage does rock, I agree but I want fuel injection haha that's why I ask. I would trade my upper deck for your upper deck. Anywho, Good luck on the project mane.

Um, the main reason that fuel injection is a problem on that 1980 Z1 Classic is the computers usually die- and they cost 700 bucks to change half the time (unless you find a good deal on one). However, it is not too hard to change a KZ-Z bike to fuel injection, the main thing you need is the GPZ set up IIRC, I have seen this swap done, and plan to do it myself in the future, using the Micro-Mega-squirt open source EFI computer. Most also use the Busa in-line fuel pump as opposed to welding in an-in tank mounted fuel pump.

I have only done one carb to EFI conversion- and that was on a dodge truck LOL- but I am going to attempt it once I get my Z1 here.

Someone on here? and on the megasquirt site got the GPZ conversion on a Z1 or KZ and it ran great.

Remember that the dependability is decreased one you bolt on a cam and some bigger pistons. For me the bike is plenty fast and very reliable stock( with minor mods). I guess the fun is in seeing how far we push the vintage bikes we all love; because I love the feeling I get when I take on some guy on hog who thinks his scooter is at the top of the pecking order and he gets taken for his beans. :woohoo:

Can a bigger tank from late 1979-1982 ST model or shaft drive model fit on a 1977 KZ 1000 frame. Thanks for any input Andy.

i don't believe it will.not without some mods.
