Alright, so we made some progress tonight. After some mock ups and head scratching, I decided that the best way to mount my rear sets up was going to be by making mounting bungs out of round stock and threading it. The plate steel idea put the peg too far back, and would have made for an awkward riding position.

So here's what we did. We took round stock, put it in the lathe, and drilled the centre out. We then threaded the hole to accept my mounting bolts. These bungs will be mounted up on the flat steel that surrounds the swingarm bolt. We checked for clearance, and with the pegs in place, I can still get a socket on to take the swingarm out if needed. More pictures will be up after, but we spun down 4 1" bungs to hold my rider pegs on. The passenger bungs will be made next time.

Thanks, guys! The longest part is always the brain scratching before the fanning can start. The next time we're in, we'll shorten the bungs up a bit, find the final location for the pegs, and weld them in. Then it's onto the passenger pegs, which we'll probably end up using the 3/8ths plate steel for. One step closer in the right direction :) it's really just small stuff from here on before she's back on the road

Arnold! Good to hear from you! It's been tough getting time in, but small steps on evenings might be the way I have to go for a while until I get a weekend day with my welder booked. There's really nothing too much left to do that's really big. Thanks for the kind words, we both really appreciate it :)

Leon is the man when it comes to sharing knowledge (or other people's knowledge ;) ) Fingers crossed I can get this finished before the snow melts here so that she's road ready early spring :)

Nice and simple, I like it :) we thought about going this way, but it didn't seem we could get the foot peg to sit level to be able to flex in case I went down. That's why we decided on making mounting bungs. But who knows, things could change again like so many other things have with this build ;) thanks for the share, Leon :)

I swung by the shop today just to get some pictures to give you guys a quick idea of what we're thinking with peg mounts. Here's the brake side mount and the bungs in position, roughly where we're thinking of mounting up. All comments and feedback are welcome :)

Doug- my phone wasn't loading earlier so I'm loading things up now :)

Here's a look at the bung mounted up to the foot rest mount. The length of the bungs will be shortened as we figure out where exactly I want the pegs to be.

A quick view of the positioning for the peg that I was referring to. I'll have just enough room to squeeze a socket in if I need to remove the swingarm pivot bolt.

A quick side view of the mounting position. Again, the length will be shortened according to where the final resting place of the foot rests are.
