Thanks man!

I got the intake adapter made to 64mm to support a bunch of k&n filter options. The actual intake size on the carb is 62mm IIRC.

I have to print the 64mm options and see what the best one will be. I'm looking at ones that have an angle so I can sweep it upwards for more clearance.

It does clear the seat. The fender I am not worried about its the actual tire.. Lol.

I'm going to run a shorter rear fender.

Whatever you end up doing, before you ride it around I would compress the rear suspension to full stop to make sure the wheel/fender clears. It would be a major bummer if you hit a bump hard and ripped off your carb and sweet intake. I have seen photos of what that can do, not pretty.

Keep on, keepin on, cant wait to hear this thing whine!

Ya those works shocks dont compress much at that angle.

I forgot I have some silicone hose for this from a previous manifold design I had so I have a few intake filter options. Thoughts? If I was to exit out of the side I would get a oval filter.

Well with all the feedback I decided on the side exit with a rather large oval filter. Figure it would add a ram effect. I wont be riding it in the rain anyways..

Just catching up on this.
Why have you made the manifold so long ?
It really needs to be as short as possible for less lag and quicker throttle response and you would have had plenty of room for the filter without chopping the mudguard.

I needed the clearance so I had to push it back. The tank fastens to the frame right at the choke and it was interfering (the tank is pretty long). The top thunder jet was also going to hit the first seat mount.

That carb with the choke and the thunder jets takes a considerable amount of spherical room. Yes it could have been a tad shorter but I have received the new filter today and it will fit in either position. I was going to shorten the rear fender regardless for aesthetic reasons.

As far as the manifold it self. I read a bunch of articles, some from books. One was really good talking about supercharged motorcycles and designs with different super charger types. For our type it was very specific that the main performance effecting element in the Super charger manifold design was having the largest opening possible to the carb side of the super charger. Said it promoted more air flow and better atomization of fuel. Second to that I mentioned tapering it as a benefit as well.

When you look at the size of the super d carb manifold side, there is only so much tapering to occur to make a smooth transition for flow. Combine that with my room constraints, it all makes sense why.

Will I lose some throttle response, possibly. Enough to really matter? I don't think so. Will I make more peak hp and tq? Possibly. Enough to really matter? I don't think so. :-)

At this point I just want the bike done so I can ride it. Next year when I am no longer building bikes I can fine tune things. I'm tired as I have lost 3 springs and on my third summer in a row building bike's and building 3 builds at once is 2 too many.

You should come visit Canada and help me finish this thing (with both of us we could finish in less than 2 weeks!) . I'll host you free room and board and beer adventures. :-) The beer is better here in North America than the UK thanks to the entrapanurral spirit of the Americans.

Wow, Canada has better beer than England because of the Americans? maybe don't say that out loud if you ever visit England. :woohoo:

Glad you're making progress on the super bike.
