Insert circus show here.. :silly:

The clear coat runs on the gas tank were too much to deal with so I had to sand it back down to base coat..FAK! :pinch: I found I couldn't get good control with this 2k clear in a can. I much prefer the gun now I a comfortable with it so I'm going to pick up some 2k clear for the gun instead.

The seat was ok though so I just gave it a 2000 grit sand and it will get some more clear after I re-base the tank.

Sooo I ended up re-sanding the seat too..I decided I want to base and clear again on both to increase the quality.

Also sanded and stripped the down the swing arm. I didn't know lacquer is soluble`FAIL!!!!

Going to be doing the repainting today if it doesn't rain too bad..

It's been a super slow process with the painting and I am learning tonnes. I do feel I will get it to be higher quality this time based on the mistakes I have made.

Thanks man.

Update. Swingarm and gas tank repainted and cleared. A stupid mosquito landed right on the platform of the gas tank. Decided I will buff it out instead of trying to take it off. The seat I had some problems in the sanding so it back to primer for a portion. I thought the base would cover it up but it didn't. Sigh.

Well the tank wheels and swingarm are SHINEY! That the 2k clear for ya.

I'm away for the weekend so not much happening this weekend but after dicking around with the seat I will be in bolt on and minor fab mode.

Had to redo some other items as I bolted certain painted items the paint was ripping. But I'm on the express path now to hopefully getthis bike on tthe road in a couple weeks. I'm in the get through little items and bolt things on phase. I polished the swingarm and going to assemble it today. I fixed the paint ripping in the sprocket and rotors, rebuilt he brakea and various other items.

Started test fitting things..

Earlier in the thread someone was worried about the shocks spring coils being too far apart (make it saggy) I put all my weight on the back end with my feet off the ground and I barely moved the spring compression wise, that's works performance for ya, not your typical shock. B)

Did you paint the brake rotors? If so, think about when the pads come in contact with them. Paint is slick (remember how paint stripes on the road are much slicker than the asphalt when wet?) Not only will the paint reduce the braking until it wears off, it will very likely accumulate on the pads and imbed in them and permanently reduce their coefficient of friction. For performance and safety's sake I would highly recommend you strip the paint off the area of the rotors that the pads will contact. Ed

I'm not worried at all. After some test breaking... Burn baby burn. The paint won't be there for long. ;)

After it burns off you may want to check the pads. If it glazes them you may want to sand it off. Ed
