That was in the very first post! lol. 7.8 to 1. I don't think they make it any more as it was a 71mm piston. It was 370 for kit and 160 for the re-bore back in 81 as per the receipt.

The carb, she needs some tlc but I got it for a smoking price and its 57mm yo!. Going to put the bendix on the yamaha build now.

donthaveakawman wrote: 7.8 sounds reasonable, what about ignition and cam timing?
Its not a matter of whats reasonable, its what is already in the bike. :S I am unclear to the goal or the value of your line of questioning in this thread. My suggestion is to read the first post containing all the data on the build.

I'm in Calgary so ya anyone can rider it after!lol.
They unfortunately wont be on for a little while. I'm going to clear them with 2k clear. They wont be getting cleared until I clear the the body parts and wheels which means I have to paint those items first. I know I want to see them on too but once you pop that 2k clear its only good for 24 hours.
It's duplicolor black calliper paint on the the exhaust (I find the exhaust paint is too runny). You probably can tell but there is tape on the pipes and exhaust as I have a theme for this bike which you will start to see once I take picks with the removed tape. I have to redo the baffle with etching primer as it the paint wasn't bonding well. I will spending more time this weekend on it so I will have some progress pics. This weekend I should have all the proper coats on the exhaust done, sanding (light body filler) and priming of the body parts and wheels hopefully is my goal, which means I will have to finish the mods I have for the front r1 fender because I don't think the bimota front fender will match up against the wider r1 front tire.

Calgary? Yeah, wow. Guess not. I was just kidding anyways. Never ridden a boosted bike, bet there's not much to compare it to.

You could always scuff up the chrome by sanding it really goodHaybus wrote: Hard to see the exhaust picture. Are you going for high gloss? Think the caliper paint will hold up to the heat, if you can get it to stick ? I'm not sure what to do with my exhaust. It's chrome and pretty grungy. Won't exactly fit in the blast cabinet and not sure what will make the paint stick. Details when your done?

Hi gloss on the pipes as its easier to clean and less water spots. They are ceramic coated so the paint wont be that abused by heat and its sticking. Sorry it was vht not duplicolor.900 degrees rated. The engine is low gloss black to accentuate the green.
For chrome I would sand it then use a high quality etching primer. Then a regular primer if u need to fill in dents or scratches. 3 coats of primer 3 coats of paint. U can use clear too but i dont cause u can touch up without it. I did that on the gold parts. But for the non exhaust I am clearing it.

Re-work: I wasn't happy with the top fins on the engine. I could see the weld marks and some other slight imperfections in the surface so I decided to redo it. I tried using bondo but didn't realize I got the sun activated kind and its winter here so I got facked. So I had to strip it. Once I got that all cleaned up and back to bare metal I etch primed it then used 1k filler primer. That seems to be filling it well enough.
Re-work: The muffler part wasnt holding paint well despite I sanded it. So I took it back to bare metal and etch primed it as well. It's fine now.
Re-work: I accidently dropped the starter cover and it chipped. I tried to save it but I could see imperfections so I took that back to metal. I used aircraft paint stripper. That stuff is bad ass. For some reason it made it look almost chrome. Weird part was it was sanded at the base in the earlier photos so I'm thinking the gold parts were chromed in the past before the became gold.
Progress: Also had to remove a bunch of old glue on the seat in order to prep it. That took a while but its ready for sanding.
Front wheel is all cleaned and prepped for painting.
