I'm hoping to get some pictures up by the end of the weekend. I can say that it has a few cracked and repaired fins (that I'll need to touch up because they don't look good enough to me); a normal starter, the internal gearing for the kickstarter, the magnet on the left side of the engine for the stator, a windage tray [first time I've seen a windage tray on a Z engine], ported head, shim under buckets, and an oil passageway or something in the buckets.

If it was for EL ..... then it had the best parts and Engineering .....maybe we could learn some engine buiding tricks.....lets face it, back then they didnt publish mods to bike.

actually the later work that rob muzzy did for the official EL bikes was amazingly well documented in kevin cameron's articles in cycle mag....

and BTW, this december's issue of UK classic bike mag has a feature on the racecrafters kawasakis of Klinzamn and company, nice read

Any idea on the cams? "Hypercycle #5" is the barely legible inscription on both cams.

It does seem odd that he kept all the excess weight on it for racing. u would think the first thing he would do is get rid of the kicker , the stator, and the starter??

Nice find.

well, not if it was an endurance racer outfitted for night running.... or maybe a racer put back on the street, who knows?

better shots inside the inlet ports could shed more light, shaved-to-the-roof guides? or just streamlined?

shape of CC and piston crown is interesting too of course.. we can wait :)

what's the lift on those cams?
