Yes I am using DYI upper shock mounts from www.dimecitycycles.com I am shortening them, truing them on the lathe, drilling a hole .500" deep and then cutting the stock stem/bolt off leaving .500" of a stub, then sliding the new mount over the stub, and welding it into the frame. this should retain the stock position and indexed properly.

As far as the static sit in, I will set it up like the rest of my bikes and may take custom srping rates and valving depending on ride. It does sit in with my wieght on it, although I haven't measured it yet.

Very cool thread Naked. This is what I have been wanting to do to my LTD, except I was going for the 1100 rear swinger and 5"/170, wheel/tire combo. The 5.5" 1200 rear wheel with the offset just doesn't do my mind any good comparing the way my 1100 handles to my 1200.
I have both complete set ups to decide one when the time comes, but I'm leaning toward the 1100 parts.
Good job so far. Can't wait to get started myself. Thanks for sharing dude.

Yeah my ZRX is an 1100 and I feel with getting the suspenion tuned, it handles very well. I have not had a chance to ride a 1200 and compare the handling due to the rear wheel offset built in, but you get both sides of the fence stating there is no "actual" difference. I am leaving it alone for now. I measured the offset and criss-cross from the same frame points above the rear tire as a quicky I found that one side came up as 10" and the other just shy of 10.5". Now this would be on the hypotenuese(sp) of the triangle, so that that actually translates to side to side offset, I haven't taken the time to figure out!

My brother is building the same type of bike using an 81' CSR1100 and 2000 ZRX1100 with the 170 & round tube swing. His has turned out a lot easier to do than this one.

Ran the math and appears to be about .57" offset to the right with my current "quicky" measurments. This correlates to what other forum members have said about the 1200's offset at ZRXOA.

Didn't see if you made up your mind on the calipers, but from my research Nissin 4 pots are better than Tokico 6 pots by a mile, and Nissin is just generally better across the board.

Go green, buy a Kawasaki!

I am not a big believer in the hype about 4 vs. 6 pots that has been the discussion at the ZRXOA. I have the 6 pots currently on my ZRX with good fluid, short levers, and braided lines. I like the feel and stopping power. I am due for pads, so I took the opportunity to buy a set of 4 pots of the SV1000 and will put them along with a set of EBC green pads and truly see if there is a noticeable difference. If there is, then I am going to try the EX500 master with larger bore. If not, when I am done with those pads, I'll put the six pots back on with fresh pads again! As far as the KZ, I will most likely go with the nissins.

what dif will u experiance wityh a larger bore?
i put a zx6 radial master on my 01cbr600 track bike.

Well if you believe the 4 pot-people they like the extra assist it provides. Two finger stoppies... Like with any hydraulic brake system it is all a balance between pressure and lever travel/feel/effort.

what do the 6 pot, believers, think the advantage is ?

for what its worth, i use the 4 pots from a 96zx9 on my kz and they work fine, even on the track.

More pad material in contact with the rotor. Now some claim the larger 6 pot calipers flex more... but I haven't seen any data to support that.
